just like learning anything else i guess
the thing is i've also learned some french the same way and it took me so much longer than english

Ik eet graag aardappels met worst en een lekker boerenkoolstamppotje op z'n tijd.

The hardest about Dutch is all of the loving figurative speech.

'Nu komt de aap out de mouw' literally translates as 'now the monkey comes out the sleeve'.
'Maak dat de kat wijs' literally translates as 'make that the cat wise'.

There's at least 1000 of these, and everyone likes to use them everywhere all the time. Duolingo's good though.

it doesn't really teach you, just asks questions

I don't know if it's different per language but I only hear good things from people who taught themselves Spanish with it.

I think Duolingo's pretty good

i mean, mexicans partially use english, japanese partially use english, it's pretty damn common and I don't see why not
