Black people are a failed experiment in domestication. Unfortunately we're still paying the price 150 years later as they have all but gone feral.

The new Poll Debate is up.

Mother's Day, and even Father's Day, should both be celebrated, if it weren't for your parents, you wouldn't even exist

Or if you were adopted, you'd still be suffering with whatever poor life you were living previously

So give them a celebration, make them feel like all their hard work has been worth it

In the UK mother's day (or mothering sunday) falls on the 4th sunday of Lent, and is traditionally a holiday where you perform a pilgrimage to your mother church, the church you were christened at. It was conflated with the idea that you would also visit your family, namely your mother, and as such would celebrate them too. This aspect of the holiday picked up as it was influenced by the American commercial holiday of Mothers Day.

As such, I don't really appreciate the overcommercialisation of the holiday, but respect that it has religious/traditional roots, at least in the UK.
None of our big holidays are purely commercial, instead being religious/traditional, even if they have been commercialised, such as Christmas/Valentines/Easter/Halloween.

Fathers Day however is a purely commercial event, akin to the US mothers day, and so I don't appreciate that, or give it much thought.

An important question.
