i need an engine recommendation for my idea.
so, before anyone instantly says "ewww gay kiddo ideas xDDD" i just want to let you know i'm using this as a learning opportunity for me. i have little money to spend, but anything will work for me. i still have my mturk emone :P
i plan on producing an arcade-style game. something like a wave shooter would fit my style best. i plan on making it completely round based. players earn coins based on how many opponents they slaughtered. 25 enemies would be equal to one coin, coins would be awarded at the end of the round. players use the coins to buy upgrades, and especially upgrade their "world" ability. the world ability represents a change in levels. 4 coins is enough to jump to the second level, for example. each other level costs 4 more coins, i.e. from 2-3 is 8 coins. you can also jump back levels, if you feel it's getting too hard. at the end of level 4, or the last level, they fight a boss which deposits coins into their perma accounts (you'll hear about this more) based on how long they've lived, or if they've succeeded (he's supposed to be super loving hard) they gain 20 coins and proceed to the arena, where they mercilessly fight off enemies until they die. when they die, all the coins they've earned are added to their permanent account, which they can use to buy perma upgrades. then, it repeats its cycle.
rating of my idea? recommendations for an engine?
i plan for it to be more of a mental work-out for me, rather than anything else.
