Instead of being a side-scroller or such, this one is basically a re-creation of the original. The graphics are really nice, I like the 2D sprites on a fixed 3D landscape. Also, it will have online multiplayer, which is great.

Never played toejam and earl, but it looked like a really fun game especially when playing multiplayer. So if this gets backed then I'll definitely be getting it.
