Except that it's not neat or cool. It's a bunch of people incorrectly interpreting "changing the contrast" as "this dress is a completely different colour!"

People should know that stuff already. It doesn't help anybody do anything, so why does it matter and why is Tumblr and Twitter so obsessed with such a stuffty viral joke?

in the image we have been presented, i can see that the dress is white/blue and gold/brown
sure, changing the image shows how the dress is in real life, but in the image, its white and gold
stop being so angry

its not blue and black because blacks don't get along with the boys in blue

its not even a matter of fun its just that certain ambient lighting conditions make people see it somewhat differently (tho it is absolutely somewhat blue and a goldish tone no matter what). big forgetin deal i dunno why people have to get so forgetin mad about a wonk picture.

I'm angry because for the past 24 forgetin hours, this is all that appears in my Facebook feed with a bunch of mouth-breathing inbreds trying to discuss colour theory. It's more painful than when they discuss the "Microsoft Windows 8 i7".

well it changed colour for some people and I doubt they would touch their contrast over it
it's blue and black, we know this, but it's still fun and harmless to talk about it

Because they're all 'technically geniuses', they're trying to work out the science behind it while also have a bro-fight because people think the dress is legitimately white and gold or whatever the forget.

The dress is blue and black, the reason is because when a picture is taken during sunlight the sun will then reflect on the color and cause it to change. At the beach when its sunny as forget the Sea looks blue but when it rains the sea is actually transparent, another answer suggests that it isn't gold because of Color mixture when you mix blue and black you don't get gold you get a darker blue so this is just a cool illusion.

that's the same sort of black and blue my avatar uses

Blockland CD-I: Faces of Evil

might photoshop later

It's quite clearly blue and black and people saying otherwise need to either have an eye exam or need to stop loving with their monitor's brightness and contrast controls, because that will obviously have an effect and therefore doesn't portray the truth.
lol you don't understand the problem
It's not computer screens portraying the image wrong, it's the stuff exposure and lighting of the original photo that screw everything you know and love up.

So you're blaming other people talking about something on your willingness to keep looking at what they're saying?
