They have no regard for any culture other than the "culture" they wish to impose. Pathetic really. But involvement in any conflict with them would  be futile. Guerrilla warfare only benefits the guerrillas. They are not a tangible threat to the continental United States at the moment, I don't see the point of getting involved. It would be a war of attrition and a waste of money, supplies, and lives. It would be like fighting the Viet Cong, they disappear when we arrive and drag us into a war of attrition. We do not need boots on the ground at this moment, what we need is to make an example of those who have left Western countries to aid ISIL.

It is the failure of American foreign policy and the current state of much of the middle east can be seen as a result of proxy wars and imperialism. It is the failure of western diplomacy that caused the never-ending power vacuum in the Middle East, and sending troops won't correct that. I don't understand why the media (and MANY people I've spoken to as well) is trying to cheerlead us into yet another disastrous conflict in the Middle East.

This is where elite special forces come in.

We had special forces in Vietnam and that didn't do us much good. Guerrilla warfare prevents conventional methods of making war from being effective. ISIL is only a threat to isolated Americans in the Middle East, very far from the vast majority of Americans in the Continental US. I don't see why we would willingly fight a war of attrition if ISIL isn't a threat to the vast majority of Americans at the moment.
