A single use of flares causes the missiles to give up on the chase.
I target the Grav-Tank, two Imperial MBT's, and an IFV, and I let the missiles fly.
All targets get destroyed with a single missile each.

Bell opens fire on the central group with a good spread of rockets, about one salvo from each F-12 pod and an entire pod's worth of RL-20s.
As the dust settles and the Defenders keep rolling forward (albeit much more worse for wear), it becomes apparent that a more focused solution is required to deal with them. You are also pelted with flak and pick up a missile or two on the way.
A few warning lights flick on. I grunt. I turn back around. I go in for another strafing run, but I'm a little easier with the gun this time.
The stress warning comes back. You get the feeling that this gun was intended for tougher planes.

The tanks are blown sky-high, and the Imperial armor horde assailing the northwest flank is beginning to thin.
Sure enough, several Imperial planes begin heading towards your squadron. Too far away to tell what exactly, but they're approaching fast.
