I climb the aircraft up to a thousand or so feet above the carrier and keep vigil. The noise never leaves me, though.

oh stuff i thought i posted this apparently not

Gus steps out of his aircraft onto the flight deck. Maintenance personnel and repair techs scurry around, attending to light damage and the aircraft parked here. A couple technicians come over and begin re-arming and refueling the plane. They give him a sour look after noticing the damage to the lift fan.

"Alright, alright, I know. Sorry. I was pulling some manoeuvres with it that I shouldn't have been doing. I actually wanted to talk to you guys about that. I think the performance of the aircraft could be greatly increased if the structural strength of the fan could be improved. If we weren't in the middle of the warzone I'd explain in further detail, but... maybe another time."

Kissinger can be heard foaming at the mouth with harsh epithets about the F35.

"How is that Corsair working out for you?"

Ralph lands. He taxis into the hangar, steps out, and then takes a nap next to his plane. Pure laziness.

"I love it, fast, maneuverable, colossal. I'm flying a freight train,"

Gustav Thomsen breathes!

The carrier continues towards its destination for with no interruptions or ambushes. Inside, the pilots are urged to stay out of the way so the crew can focus on keeping the carrier airborne, no small task for a thousand-ton monstrosity operating at 66% engine power.

They still seem irritated, but they'll just have to deal with it. A damaged lift fan is the least of their worries at the moment.

He is immediately kicked awake and instructed by a rather large and bearded fellow to "Get the hell off my flight deck, you lazy forget."

"Fuel at half,"
Fortunately, you are able to make it all the way to the new airbase on what you have left.

The flight deck crews are able to repair the shutters as well, allowing for everyone on board to launch and land at the former Huit base. Landing is tricky, due to the treeline coming dangerously close to the runway, which itself is far shorter than the norm; but nobody crashes or totals their plane. Upon parking your planes, you see that when the Huits bugged out of here they left behind quite a lot of expensive materiel.
