bet you haven't heard about Deltan bed n' breakfast

anyways tippy heads to the cafeteria and gets some food. She is the only one who likes Deltan food apparently as she has a heaping plate full of deltan beetle pancakes.

"Morning, Tippy."
I take a sip of the coffee, which is surprisingly decent.

"Good morning." Tippy begins to drizzle Deltan Jungle syrup on her Beetle cakes.

Jaakko exits the building a whistles an ear piercing whistle. He waits a minute, and the dogs come trotting his way.

The dossier arrives shortly after you attempt to get some sleep, providing you with a rude awakening and a modest amount of information about Sky Marshal Tlacelel and his plane. You discover that he has only one name (not entirely uncommon among the Huitzitlaotani), and that his current age is undetermined. Something to consider is that a number of his predecessors have shared this exact name, so it's not even known if that is his real name or merely a title, or inherited name. One thing's for certain, it hasn't been the same man in command for over a hundred years. The current Tlacelel is well-liked by the men under his command and has considerable popular support from both the free and indentured civilian demographics. Some even falsely believe he has the support of/is an embodiment of one or more of their gods, clearly a bunch of hoo-haa since the Aesthian pantheon obviously is the only real one.

His current aircraft is of an unknown model, possibly built entirely from the ground up for his own personal use. It is likely powered by a fusion engine of some description; conventional engines simply would not be able to keep it airborne at the speeds recorded for the amounts of time observed.[1][2] Weapons capabilities are somewhat better documented. The craft possesses four coaxial guns; two particle projection cannons and two heavy cannons, as well as one MMS-40 and an internal bay of unknown capacity.[3][5][6] Airframe is heavily armored and extremely durable, able to take hits that would cripple or destroy other planes outright.[4] Lastly, it possesses a worrying array of sophisticated technology, such as an ARTEMIS[3][6] and possibly even two LAMS arrays, one to the front and one to the rear (or merely a single LAMS with very good coverage).[3][4] Unusually, said LAMS will target nearby planes if there are no missiles for it to intercept instead.[4] If this wasn't already bad enough, Tlacelel is almost never seen without an escort of four Sabres, his private guard of fiercely loyal, formerly indentured pilots.[3][4][5][6] Said guardsmen are often relied upon to handle fighter threats, as all the armor and ordnance means his plane is far from maneuverable.

[1] Date: 10/4/4914. Spotted at 0524 in Grid Zone 57LXF, approx. 37 kilometers southeast from MCLB K28. Estimated speed on approach, Mach 0.8. Participated in airstrikes against Mercanan armor column engaged by Type-2 Bipedal Combat Platforms. Contact with column lost within ten minutes.
[2] Date: 10/4/4914. Spotted again at 0535 assaulting MCLB K28 unassisted. Seen discharging at least ten Anti-Ground Missiles over the course of the attack. Surface to Air batteries engaged but most incoming munitions shot down by LAMS. Eventually disengaged after sustaining moderate damage, retreat clocked at mach 2.2. Logistics base left operational, but crippled; almost 100,000 liters of fuel and 20 tons of assorted supplies lost.
[3] Date: 4/31/4915. Engaged in interdiction against Kintharian supply aircraft. Two C-2 transport planes are lost, along with 5 of the 6 J-10s escorting them. Testimony from surviving pilot claims that the Radar-guided missiles fired on him were disposed of by a LAMS. Before another missile could be prepared, Tlacelel had fired an ARTEMIS-assisted MMS-40 barrage against the escorts, knocking out two. Sabre escort were ordered to engage remaining J-10s while Tlacelel himself took down the transports with a pair of high-power energy weapons. After completing objective, allowed the remaining J-10 to disengage freely.
[4] Date: 6/6/4915. Engaged by NAUC's 181st Strategic Fighter Wing over Mercanan coastline. NAUC composition: 2 Mirage 4000, 8 MiG-29, 4 Su-30, 2 Su-47, 1 PAK-FA, 1 X-37 Corsair. Destroyed 9 planes with assistance from Sabre escort, one kill even scored by LAMS when a Mirage attempted to pursue and use guns. Took 3 confirmed hits from All-Aspect Missiles and 1 from P³ before retreating with remaining wingman. Missiles fired in pursuit were either intercepted by LAMS or, in one instance, blocked by the voluntary(?) sacrifice of said wingman.
[5] Date: 8/28/4916. Attempted interception against NAUC Aerial battlegroup in Grid Zone 53LPF at 1445 hours. 2 out of 4 Sabres were destroyed, and Tlacelel himself driven off under heavy fire by CAP from the airborne carrier AFS Oslo. Over the course of the engagement, was spotted firing more than one MMS-40 salvo, and used both particle and high-caliber conventional cannonfire to disable cruiser AFS Vilde's engines, resulting in a crash-landing. 138 of 176 crew survived.
[6] Date: 11/26/4916. Intercepted GTO attack on radar station. Destroyed entire flight of Mercanan Razorbacks with single MMS-40 barrage. Mjolnir flight pursued out of combat area. Remained on station around the radar site for an hour before returning to base.

Jaakko guides the dogs to the kennels, and into a room with a large, tub or basin that was built into the floor and wall. He leaves Jalko to his own devices, and coaxes Talko into the room. However, timid Talko refuses to get in the tub, despite treat offers. Jaakko gives him a shove, but Talko resists. He attempts again, and Talko snaps at him.

Talko's long jaws unhinge and strike Jaakko's face above his eyebrow, and at the opposite side of his jaw. The snap does no damage aside from red marks. Jaakko releases a string of harsh epithets, and attempts to coax Talko in one more time, by squating in the metal basin. It works, and he secures Talko to a lead.

Jaakko hands Talko a treat and puts an apron on and begins washing the dog. He finds that aside from mud and dirt, Talko is free of any visible parasites. He concludes that it is rather novel that the dog, in spite being abandoned, likely for being too timid, was in good health.

Talko decides that he's too wet, and shakes himself off, spraying suds all over Jaakko and the apron.

He begins to meticulously rinse off Talko, double checking for any parasites. He finds none, proceeds to dry Talko, and releases him.

Next is Jalko, who could be convinced to get in to the room, but figured out that Jaakko would bribe him to get into the tub. The massive dog stands at the edge of the tub but does not move. Jalko looks back and forth between the treat Jaakko holds over the tub, and Jaakko himself. After a few minutes of standing there, Jalko gives up and gets in. Jaakko washes Jalko, and scrubs the burrs and mud from his coat. During an inspection, Jaakko finds a few hard parasites that have taken up residence under Jalko's front leg. He finds what is oustensibly rubbing alcohol, and douses them in it. Jalko is none the happier to be laying on his back and getting his belly rubbed, entirely permissive of Jaako plucking at the parasites.

The rubbing alcohol kills the parasites, and they are easily removed. He makes a note to ask requisitions for dog medications. Jaakko leads the dogs into the crew quarters, if only to forget with the base personnel for a few moments of enjoyment. The dogs had not previously been allowed inside buildings.

Richard slowly reads the last footnote. Hunched over the table, he balls his hands into fists. We have to take this guy down. His fingers unravel to flip through the contents of the dossier. The encounters written in citations 2, 4 and 5 pique his interest in particular. Richard skims over their respective reports to look for descriptions pointing out exactly where Tlacelel's aircraft was hit and if there were any signs of damage.

[2] - Since the only allied forces were ground-based, nobody was able to get a good look at where the damage was delivered.
[4] - Sustained moderate damage just about everywhere, but missiles seemed to have more success hitting the target from below compared to head/side/rear-on or from above. MMS-40 disabled by AAM hit to underside, and damage to aft end as a result of P³ hit caused malfunctions in rear-facing LAMS coverage.
[5] - Most, but not all damage was taken as a result of defensive gunfire from the airships. While lining up a strafing run on the AFS Vilde, direct flak hit to the plane's nose seemed to disable use of particle projection cannons; and as it flew over, a missile struck the engines as well, resulting in reduced speed and likely playing a part in the decision to abort.
