"Thank you for calling me out here. We were planning to have me meet you and the rest of the family..."

Tippy clears her throat awkwardly

"So how long have you been serving in the Navy?"

[music playing on radio]
"So how long have you been serving in the Navy?"
: Enlisted in late 4913. If I could have seen a year into the future, I probably would have looked to become a corporate drone instead.

mission starting tomorrow, no point in launching it at midnight EST

"I'd rather work the garbage truck route than be behind a desk...but if i could have seen into the future I as well might have avoided all of this..."

: How far are we talking? And from what point?

Gus walks around the base, familiarizing himself with the layout. He had heard about Valhalla before, during training, though not in the most flattering terms. For the life of him, Gus cannot figure out why. The facilities weren't new but we're kept in excellent shape, it was fairly easy to navigate and the personnel he has talked to were friendly enough. Perhaps it was the food.

The gym was highly satisfactory. Much like the Deltans, these Aesthians seemed to enjoy fighting and incorporated that love affair into the recreational facilities when they were built. As opposed to the Deltans, however, they took a far more traditional approach - balanced numbers of speed and heavy bags, with a bigger focus on person-to-person training and sparring. Perhaps, Gus thought, there was a sparring group here he could join, but presently they were absent. Not really surprising considering the odd hour he had dropped by, but somewhat disappointing nonetheless.

After a quick stop at his assigned room, Gus heads to the cafeteria. He watches the news broadcast intently with a cup of water and a granola bar.

I hope Gustav didn't go on leave because otherwise we're looking at a collapse of causality and the fabric of space-time itself here.
Call Dulmer and Lucsly stuff's hit the fan three hours ago.

a very short leave, more like a brief excursion. He's back now

: How far are we talking? And from what point?
"The very start, like many years ago. Too many for me to dwell on now without it feeling like a waste. I was on my way to become a software engineer before i got drafted... which would ironically require me to be behind a desk, nullifying my previous statement. I wonder what it would have been like..."

Tippy rubs her metal jaw with the thought.

I was on my way to become a software engineer before i got drafted... which would ironically require me to be behind a desk, nullifying my previous statement. I wonder what it would have been like..."

Tippy rubs her metal jaw with the thought.
: Well, if the Huits didn't get found out in Gervesia, they would have been found out by someone else some other time, and then you would have been drafted anyway. I doubt your work as a software engineer would have changed much in the long run, unless you were working on some miraculous virtual reality simulation that would have cut down on the Huits' need for... "entertainers".

Swat, you need to make a loadout. I got you a page so you can do that, it's in the character roster link in xk's post.

"Actually it was an engineering program for the development of advanced prosthetics. It would help map out sensory locations so the mechanical part would feel more like something that would be a part of your body."

Tippy rubs her jaw again with a pained look on her face

"I never got to finish it and i'm hoping my old laptop hasn't died from collecting dust. It might be my bread and butter if i survive this war... or optionally more war if there are others to be had."

He looks like he doesn't believe you, and goes quiet for a while.
: ...I see.

So, unless blockguy shows up or Swat 3 changes his loadout from the one I gave him, here's the lineup for the current mission:
