"Haven't seen him, I assume he'll be out of a long time," he replies.
"Hm. I'll go check up on him, see how he's doing. Goodbye."

Faw gets off the couch and starts to walk out of the room.

"I didn't see a chute, or even an attempt to eject at that matter. I had the Shikra outfitted to carry seven cannons so he got a warm welcome. The previous flight defending the facility took heavy casualties from him beforehand though."
"Walt, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled your gun camera footage to evaluate this new fighter, unfortunately we may not get to see it," Jaakko replies to Walt.
: Oh, I hope I can see the footage. I want to see how bad you killed this guy.

"It's uh, come to my attention that there's a lot more to you than i may have perceived in the past. And i would like to apologize in the best way that i can. I'm sorry for treating you like stuff for these past years. I'm sorry for asking you to blow yourself up back on Tcal- or whatever that base was called. I'm also sorry for attempting to open you up to steal your lubricants."

Tippy pauses for a minute before continuing.

"The thing is, there's really no words i can put into this apology to really make it count for the stuff i did during my long duration of ignorance. So i figured maybe the best thing to do is to let you be where you want to be here. You don't have to report back to my room anymore or clean it or do anything you use to do. I won't object or bother you if you choose to stay and hang with Cualli, you won't have to answer to me anymore, but i do have one request..."
: I forgive you. What is your request?

"What's it to you if he wants to learn?"
: It is a machine. It doesn't belong here unless it's doing labor, and it clearly wasn't.

"Let me name you. From what i understand you haven't taken your own initiative to do it and it would help others who would be willing to address you by one. Let's be honest, talking to you makes things awkward when we have to resort to calling you "robot" or something else."

"See ya,"

Jaakko waves.

Virvel's statement immediately reminds him of how she gutted the captain. It sickens him. It takes him a few seconds to compose his thoughts.

"Maybe sometime it'll come back to us," he says quietly.

"Whatever is left of it is thoroughly mangled, so that footage will hopefully be pushed around for sure. Can't think of a reason they would withhold it."

Walter smiles at the dogs as he pets them before looking back up to Jaakko

"I bagged a Turkeb after I was done with him too, Who holds the highest killcount in the squadron right now?"

"He will be doing work," she answers. "I'm keeping him busy with simple work in the hangar. And since I'm done working, he wanted to come in here."

She closes the holy book and lays it on the bench, noticing that the robot has quietly excused itself; she mostly keeps her eyes on Morten. "I don't see what the problem is with him wanting to learn about who he believes his creator to be."

It takes Jaakko a few seconds to remember Walt's kill count.

"forget. forget!"

He smiles and turns to Walt. Jaakko gives him the finger.

"forget you, five times ace!" he says jokingly, "Wait until I can fly again, I'll reclaim my seat with the highest kill-scores!"

Talko and Jalko both look at Jaakko. The dogs are both huddled around Walt.

: Can't wait!

She goes back to petting Jalko.

: It's a robot, it's just a bunch of beeps and boops shaped like a man. It is incapable of true belief. Letting it sit in here with us humans is an affront to the gods!

: Congrats on the killcount, Ashes.

"Have you even bothered to try to even speak to him?" She asks coldly. "Because if you try talking to him, you'd see that he's more human than you think."

She glances briefly at Eremit, remembering that he's still trying to pray, and lowers her voice as she continues. "You know, a temple really isn't the best place to start an argument over whether or not sentient beings, even non-human ones, should have the right to worship."

"We'll see who catches up or falls behind soon enough, Major."

Walter turns to Virvel quickly after

"Thanks, I should've done something special for it but I think the gloating rights alone are good enough. "

"Huh, me and you make up twenty-five percent of the kills in the squadron," Jaakko remarks.

Jalko scoots to sit between Walt and Virvel. Talko starts leaning against Walt.

"Have you even bothered to try to even speak to him?" She asks coldly. "Because if you try talking to him, you'd see that he's more human than you think."

Eremit mumbles something under his breath, the tail end of which gets drowned out by Pansar's tirade.
: You must not go to temple then...
: Don't you dare imply that that thing is in any way human! It is a machine, one of thousands of identical machines built in a factory for the purpose of doing simple, mind-numbing tasks no man would want to. It has no rights, it is not sentient, and even if it did and it was, you cannot manufacture a soul. It cannot worship the gods any more than a... a microwave oven could!

"Thanks, I should've done something special for it but I think the gloating rights alone are good enough. "
: Just don't let your head get too big, or I'll take it off. I'm not too far behind, you know.

Walter jokingly replies as he begins to rub Talko's side with his hand

"I'll brag while I can, and that should be for awhile if you're trying to catch up to me."

"It may be mass-produced, but it's different." It's clear that Cualli is struggling to keep her cool. "Mentally, he's young. We should be trying to steer him in the right direction, not make him resent us by discriminating against him."

She frowns, narrowing her eyes at Morten. "I, for one," she says, pointing her thumb at herself for emphasis, "would know what effect discrimination at a young age can have on someone."

"What do you think of Elu? It was a word i learned from some islander a while back, it translates to "life"."
