Jaakko remembers apologizing to Xiaomei in the wake of Tocatlan, and the incredibly venomous look he received. He glance briefly at her, then back to Musashi.

"Nobody died, don't worry about it," he replies.

But Jaakko isn't sure how to feel, still miffed by the totaling of two aircraft and a severely damaged third. He doesn't blame Raiden for it.

Cualli seems somewhat amused at the thought. "Yeah, that would probably happen. But regardless, if they're self-aware like Elu, then they should be allowed to attend. And really, it shouldn't be much of an issue on this base because I'm pretty sure Elu is the only sentient robot here."
"There's certainly a lot of tangents to the situation."
: I don't think it's about this single robot, but rather the precedent it may set. If we start letting machines worship at temples, what other rights are we going to afford them? Where do we draw the line between "very advanced drone" and "artificial life"? And if your robot qualifies as "life", then wouldn't that mean the Helians are subjecting them to some pretty horrifying treatment by human standards? It's a can of worms nobody wants to open, especially not with the much more tangible problems we're already facing, so it's easier to just say "no robots allowed".

: And I am relieved that that was the case, but still, two of your teammates got rather severely hurt.
: Don't forget that guy from the unpronouncables. What was his name again? Fish?
: I don't think that's quite right, but yes, he's in the hospital too.

Cualli frowns, taking a moment to think about what Arkhip has said. "I mean... the only reason Elu reached his level of awareness is because he hasn't been subjected to the mind wipes that they do on their machines. I guess I wouldn't consider him alive as much as I would... intelligent to the point of awareness, I guess." She pauses. "A human-like intelligence," she adds, "but not necessarily life."

"But who's to say that all constructs who gain awareness will have a desire to worship? Just because they're aware doesn't mean they're religious," Cualli suggests.

"If I see anyone. I might die of boredom locked up here again. Good to see you anyways, Morten. I don't think we've formally met."

"You did what you could,"

Jaakko can't yet bring himself to mention his conversation with Xiaomei after Tocatlan. He looks to Nagato.

"Frisk, of Djuriskas?"

Walter shuffles his book to the side, deciding he won't be able to find what he's looking for anyways.

"I don't mind the robot, but I'd be wary of him. There's no telling what he might eventually do, or think about. If you think about it he's sort of a child in his current state."

: That's one way of looking at it. I must admit, that thing makes me a bit nervous as well.

"Frisk, of Djuriskas?"
Nagato attempts to repeat your pronunciation of Djuriskas, but it gets lost somewhere in her accent.
: Yes, him.

Pansar scratches his chin, trying to think.
: Guess we haven't. I've seen you around the gym, but that's it.

"If we're worried about what it might do in the future, then why not try to teach it a strong sense of right and wrong while it's young?" She glances at Walt. "You said it yourself: it's like a child. And that aside, the last thing we want to do is give it reasons to dislike us."

"I'm wondering what... Elu's?... sense of right and wrong is now. Like a child he is learning about it, but he has his previously instituted protocol or programming. I'm wondering how that will work or conflict with attempting to teach him."

Gus extends his hand from the hospital bed, a gesture that makes him laugh slightly.

"Gustav. Nice to meet you."

Jaakko looks to Nagato.

"Djuriskas,"

Pansar accepts the handshake, perhaps more firmly than intended.
: Morten.

Jaakko looks to Nagato.
"Djuriskas,"
She makes another attempt, and fails.
: forget it. Your language is worse than the Huits'.
: Hey, speaking of; Crash, do you know how to pronounce that Huit pilot's name? I've heard at least four different pronunciations from four different people, and I've just given up trying to figure out which one is right.
: I'm telling you, it's pronounced like "coach-axe".
: I can say, with almost one hundred percent certainty, that it is not pronounced "coach axe".

"It's Dyur-is-kus," Jaakko enunciates.

"I think it's pronounced Cokes-oach," he replies to Matsumoto

-oach as in coach or roach

"I think it's pronounced Cokes-oach," Jaakko enunciates.
: No, going by their pronunciations, it would be "Co-ah-sho-tch".
: That sounds ridiculous. I'm just calling her "Coach".
