"You're only gonna scare away helicopters or something,"

Jaakko moves his character around a bit.

"Any details on the world we're in? You said this game had a bazillion procedural campaigns or something,"

Faw finishes his workout and exits the gym without talking to Coaxoch or Musashi. He heads over to the recroom and sees Gus.

Faw shoots him a wave. "Hello. Glad to see that you're alright. This may seem a bit abrupt after what you just went through, but do you mind playing a board game? Chess, I mean."

"Sure, why not. I haven't played in a long time."

Gus walks in front of the TV, stepping over the rats nest of wires Tippy and Jaakko have created, to get the board. He returns to the table, setting up the pieces and choosing the white team.

Faw and Gus spend a few turns manoeuvring their pieces into place. Abruptly, Gus takes Faw's Queen.

"Oh. You forgeter!"

The game progresses and looks increasingly grim for Gus until he takes both of Faw's rooks in just as many moves.

She shrugs. "I've just never bothered doing it," she says before glancing down at her watch. "Though... I've got plenty of time before I start my shift, so I could go with you if you'd like to introduce me." Cualli looks at him again. "But if not, then I can always go find Elu and start early today or something."
: I don't think you want to meet either of them. To be honest, they both belong in cells.

Jaakko and Tippy have begun to draw observers.
: I'm pretty sure she's exaggerating.

Faw tightens his fists before continuing on in the game. He's gotten quiet.

Gus claims victory after getting two queens on the board.

"Good game, it's been a while since I played."

He extends his hand.

Lorens happens upon Gus and Simon's chess match.

"Gus! How're you feeling, man? I expected you to stay in the infirmary for longer than that," he remarks.

"Ah." She smiles. "Guess they aren't the ideal crowd, then. In that case, I'm gonna go find Elu and see what work there is today. Tell the those two that..." Cualli pauses and seems to think for a moment. "Actually, forget it. I'll see you later." She flashes him another brief smile before walking out of the mess hall, throwing away the MRE pouch on her way out.

Cualli walks out to the hangar and looks to see if Elu is around.

Faw finishes up losing his game and slumps back into the couch, looking like a wounded animal.

"Damn. Good game. I thought I was doing good for a while, but..."

He leans forward and shakes Gus's hand before settling back into the couch.

"Much better, thanks. Apparently the docs think my stitches will hold as long as I don't do anything foolish."

Gus thinks for a moment.

"Hey, would you like to play a game of chess?"

"No worries, it happens to all of us. You'll get me next time, I'm sure. Thought I lost there a lot."

"Hey, would you like to play a game of chess?"

Lorens smiles and takes Gus up on his offer.

"Sure!"

He takes a seat at the table. Once the colors are decided, he begins setting up his own side of the board. He holds the king in his hand for a moment, taking the time to study its wood grain.

"Man, it's been years since I last played."

He sets the piece down, and the two start shuffling pieces across the board.
