The landing at Valhalla was just as silent as the flight back. Gus exits the Sulla and walks off to his room in a numb haze. Soon after, he returns to the line of hangars on base, wandering for some time before eventually stopping near a set of open hangar doors. Leaning on the frame, he removes a battered pack of Deltan cigarettes he retrieved earlier from his pocket. He turns it over in his hands a few times. Though not much of a smoker, Gus had bought them after Tocatlan. It seemed right at the time, and despite smoking them rarely he kept the carton after Mjolnir was transfered to Valhalla.

Taking one of the dwindling number of cigarettes from the carton, he retrieves an equally battered pack of matches and lights it behind a cupped hand. Sliding down to sit, he rests his forearms on his knees and takes a long drag, exhaling slowly and resting his head against the corrugated metal.

: stuff, don't I look like an starfish. Sorry to hear that.

"Not like... You would know... I'm not exactly the one to display I'm bothered. It's fine by me at least"

Jaakko rejects the handshake.

"My gloves are drenched," he comments, "I need to shower. We'll talk later, sorry,"

He leaves it that, collects fresh clothes from his room, and trudges off to the shower. He notes that despite his effort to sound cordial, he probably came off as disinterested.

Impeccable timing.

Ash looks somewhat disappointed but understanding after he saw that look in Jaakko's eye.

"Ain't that a bite? I get it, you need time to cool it so we'll catch up later."

He turns to Faw.

"I guess that means we can head off to show me my pad then. I'm guessing anyone else I meet now probably isn't in the greatest mood."

: They're closer to being out of debt than they were a few days ago.

He shrugs and lifts his mask up a bit to start eating from a Gothic ration pouch.
"Suppose that's always nice."

She looks at him for a moment before looking at Coaxoch again. "Do you know her very well?" Cualli asks suddenly.

Unable to speak, he follows where Cualli is looking, then shakes his head when he sees who she's referring to.

"She's not a pilot, is she? I haven't seen her much."

Jaakko washes up and reflects on the events a few hours before. He feels guilt, even for the things he'd though. He'd thanked the Gods it wasn't him who was fragged in the immediate moments after Whiskey was killed. He felt conscious guilt, but his body hadn't made the connection that Whiskey wouldn't be coming back. Jaakko felt like he'd owed whiskey more, considering that Whiskey saved his life. He swears he won't tell anyone that that thought entered his head during the battle.

He knows he can't bottle this experience up, but is at a loss for who to talk to. He supposes that he should check on Tippy, if only to distract himself and to get the most pressing fear off of his chest; the fear of Svirask turning in to Taiton, and losing Mjolnir, as its flight leader no less, in the same manner that Gantevir was killed.

Jaakko takes his dogs and goes looking for Tippy.

"She's not a pilot, is she? I haven't seen her much."
He shakes his head puts his mask back on so he can speak again.
: She flew for the hui- uh- the... guys down south. Not the Imperial- well, technically, they're still Imperials, they just... aren't anymore.

He stares at the floor with a thinly veiled expression of horror at his butchering of the Aesthian language.

"Oh, for them?" she says, raising her eyebrows slightly. If she was bothered by his slip up, it's hidden by the faint look of amusement on her face at his attempt to cover it up. "I thought she was one of ours."

Jaakko takes his dogs and goes looking for Tippy.
You find Tippy in the cafeteria eating a creamy soup with some coffee. It doesn't look like she's taken the time to clean up yet.

Jaakko curses his luck and hurries his dogs back to his room before Tippy wonders off. He returns to the mess hall, and sits next to Tippy.

"Hello," he says quietly.

Jaakko is nervous that Tippy will snap at him.

Tippy remains calm and gestures to the seat in front of where she is sitting.

"Have a seat."
