Bell, Ellie, and Faw head out to the airstrip where the An-74 is sitting in a hangar with the cargo already loaded. The roosterpit appears to have been modified from the standard version, with multifunction displays installed at the navigator/flight engineer's station instead of the usual gauges. The plane also has two-color paint job, the belly of the aircraft is yellow while the rest is white.

: The layout should be a bit similar to what you've been trained on in the fighter jets, the only thing is that you have to get used to flying with the yoke instead of the stick. The radar and navigation equipment have been updated to modern standards, so we won't be flying with maps, as much.

Jaakko breaks the silence.
"The dogs are going to be living with my mother as long as we're on the airship. First though, I was planning on going to Mercana for a week,"
: What for?

Tippy wrinkled her nose

"The beautiful province of Mariposa."
: Never heard of it. Sounds dreadful.

Pansar finishes loading his pistol, takes his place at the lane, and puts a round downrange with an ear-splitting boom (if you weren't wearing your ear protection it was, anyway).

"I wanted to see Taiton again, and maybe get a glance at McNamara. The latter probably won't happen, but I figure it's worth a shot,"

Jalko is eyeing Musashi's food, but seems to be restraining himself.

The ear-splitting boom didn't effect Tippy much, given that she already forgeted her own ears up in Palestra. She begins putting the massive sniper rifle she collected from the search operation together.

Jalko is eyeing Musashi's food, but seems to be restraining himself.
: Why? I mean, why would you want to go back to Taiton? There isn't a lot worth seeing there anymore.

Morten fires downrange again, this time turning a few heads. Nagato has to make sure her ear protection is working.

Jaakko wonders whether it's worth explaining.

"It's something I've considered for a while. My old squadron was stationed on a foward air base nearby. To me it feels- important, I suppose,"

Tippy finishes putting the rifle together and and begins to learn how to operate it. She looks the rifle over for a charging handle if it even had one.

Yamashiro nods understandingly.

There is no charging handle, just a few buttons and dials near the trigger assembly.

Tippy looks for a display near the dials and fiddles with one of them.

A whirring sound emanates from the gun's vacant receiver, followed by a quiet buzzer and "0%" appearing on the LCD display below the scope alongside a picture of an empty container.

Tippy pulls out a metallic flask and screws the top into the gun, watching the display.

Pressing the same button you did before draws a portion of the fluid into the weapon, and the weapon alerts you that it is ready to fire with an electronic chitter and the display changing to read "100%" and "OK".

"Cool."

Tippy looks down the weapon scope to get a feel for what its like. The Scope had neat little status symbols and holograms indicating windage, with another dial letting her set the scope from night vision modes all the way to thermal. A red reticle that wasn't stationary would float over the best point to aim at during high winds for the best accuracy. Tippy rests the crosshair on one of the furthest away targets and pulls the trigger.

There's a slight delay after you pull the trigger, only a fraction of a second, before the gun discharges a jet of magnetic fluid at extreme velocity with a mighty crack. The silhouette target gets its head blown clear off. Morten sets his homemade handcannon on the table to watch the next shot, and judging by the people who are craning their necks to look at what just made that sound, you very well may start attracting a crowd.

Tippy adjust a few settings for the next shot and aims to take out the next target, this time aiming for a torso shot.
