Gus observes the briefing thoughtfully with the rest of Mjolnir and Djuriskas. He draws the short stick during the discussion of how precisely to handle the airships, losing the proverbial "not it" game to take the Condottiero. While not particularly pleased to be forced to sit in the back and control drones from a screen, he accepts the necessity of the plane and its payload for the mission.

He hears Jaakko's new nickname for Graf while studying the maps and (nearly) conceals a laugh.

Jaakko shakes Graf's hand.

"Kirves, or 'Crash.' Expected better? I got my name for landing with my gear up and flying through a flock of geese," he replies, "Nobody really gets a name they pick."

He glances a Gus, grinning, then back to Graf.

"It's just nerves, it'll go away after a while,"

Jaakko shakes Graf's hand.

"Alright, sir. I'll keep that in mind."

He looks to the man Jaakko was grinning at. The name comes to his mind almost immediately. "Sir, that's Captain Thomson, correct?"

Gus looks at the two with a grin, walking over when he hears his name. He extends his own hand to the pilot.

"That'd be me. Gustav, or Tempest. Nice to meet you formally... 'Gaffe'."

He smiles again and shakes his head at Jaakko.

Graf quickly salutes and then shakes his hand. "At least any enemies might look over me because of my nickname. At least, before I blast them with a missile. It's good to meet you, all of you."

In his head, he preps his personal plan on how to avoid PD - which is to say, fire rocket pods and evade like hell. He's gonna need it.

Making use of the time before the rendezvous; Eremit goes to the ship's shrine to pray, Kommandant and Virvel go to his quarters to come up with a game plan, Morten goes to the exercise room, and Frisk just sits around in the pilots' common room.

Cualli heads to the shrine in search of Eremit, figuring that that's the best place to look for him that isn't off-limits to her. Elu is, as always, in tow.

She stands near him, quietly waiting for him to finish praying before speaking. "Not surprised that I'd find you here. Are you nervous at all?"

Gus heads to the hangar to meet the crew of the Condottiero before taking off.

Jaakko relaxes in his room. He reflects on the feeling that he can't grip or imagine anything happening beyond this mission, a feeling he had always gotten before missions. Aside from this, he feels very little.

Yui decides to head off to the exercise room, listening to some K-pop. She decides to run, to take her mind off of the upcoming mission. Regardless, she can't shake the feeling that she won't be cheating death again.

: I think we all are. Last time my squadron was here things didn't go so well.

Cualli looks like she's suddenly put two and two together. "Oh. Oh."

She looks at the shrine, taking a moment to collect her thoughts. She realizes she's treading on what is a very touchy subject, and speaks in a quieter tone. "I've been... wanting to ask, but never really found a good time to. What... happened, the last time your squad was here?" Cualli looks down at Eremit again. "If you still aren't okay with answering, that's fine. I just... didn't know if you maybe wanted to talk about it or something."

Eremit sighs and takes a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing.
: Well... we got beat, is what happened. The Goths came over the ocean with dozens of airships and after our attempt at stopping them, Recoil, Cortex, and Chopper were dead, and I was in a field hospital. The Goths took the city three days later.

"That sounds... awful," she says, looking visibly upset at the thought. Cualli rests a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I can't imagine what that must've been like."

: Honestly couldn't tell you. All I remember is that I got hit by an EMP and couldn't breathe, so I bailed out. Then I passed out. I can't remember anything that happened afterwards.
