Jaakko heads back to his bunk to get stuff to clean up.

Cualli raises her eyebrow at Arkhip in response to what he said and clearly wants to ask him what he meant by the latter part. "Hold that thought," she says to him before turning to Walter.

"Depends on what it is," Cualli says, looking down at the helmet. "But go ahead and ask."

"I was wondering how proficient you would be in helping me find a way to shield my eyes. The plasma on the skepna is like looking right into the sun, maybe a second visor I could flip down or something of the sort would help."

Tippy appears relatively unphased.
"Yes. That. Best I hop to it then." Tippy heads back the other way, already eager to clear this part of the ship deck.
"...right."
Markus heads on back to his post, wherever that may be.
The two of you return to the pilots' ready room, situated behind the topmost launch deck and directly above the larger bottom flight deck. Virvel, Frisk, and Pansar are already there when you arrive. The former two are hanging around the coffee machine while the latter is sitting in a chair reading a magazine.

Gus nods, uttering a thank you. Another doctor and nurse make their way to Ellie's bed, stretcher in tow, and he elects to return later. Making his way back to the hangar, Gus looks for the CSAR squad and VTOL.
The squad has not yet been assembled, and the VTOL is still in its usual storage space - tucked away in the hangar's ceiling along with the folding-wing MiGs.

As Graf takes a break from running, he remembers the AWACS saying Yui's beacon being shut off.

"AWACS, where did you last see Hawkeye's beacon? I could try to find her location and investigate what could have happened if it's in the same direction as the extraction point."

He continues to scan the buildings for any snipers or signs of Yui.
: Negative, do not deviate from your path.

Tippy walks over to Pansar with his nose buried in a magazine.

"Watcha reading?"

"I was wondering how proficient you would be in helping me find a way to shield my eyes. The plasma on the skepna is like looking right into the sun, maybe a second visor I could flip down or something of the sort would help."
"Let me see it," she says, and takes the helmet. Cualli looks it over, then looks up inside of it.

"I mean... it's not exactly my field of expertise, but the main thing I would suggest is... something like wearing a pair of sunglasses under it? Or I could see if we have any film lying around that would give the same effect," she suggests. "I could put a strip over the front of the visor and that would help block out some of the light."

Cualli stares into the helmet for a moment longer, then looks down at Walter. "I mean, it won't be perfect-- if it's bright, it's bright-- but it'll help." She grins and adds in a light-hearted tone, "you could always try not looking at it."

"Well maybe not the helmet then, would you be able to fix something to the interior of the skepna?"

Walter looks over at the skepna

"I have looked away, but then I'm a concerned because I'm not looking at what I'm doing. Its a little redundant to look to the side or shu my eyes everytime I fire it."

"It was a joke," she says, still smiling.

"I don't think we have the... resources here to do much of anything to the canopy. I think that the glasses or the tinted film on your helmet might be your best bet if you want a quick fix." Cualli glances around the hangar quickly. "I mean... I might be able to like, make something like a welding mask that you could flip down when you're about to fire, but... I'd have to look into that. And it won't exactly be a glamorous fix, either."

Jaakko appears in the ready room, cleaned up somewhat and with a new flightsuit. He brings with him a book, takes a seat, and starts reading from the beginning.

Lorens arrives at the pilots' ready room a moment later, still clutching his flight helmet and wearing a rather dull expression. He finds the nearest available seat and quietly sits down.

"It's got to be convenient, I think a piece of tinted poly carbonate or something just inside would work best. You could ask some other engineers if you're not sure what to do."

Tippy walks over to Pansar with his nose buried in a magazine.
"Watcha reading?"
He flips the top half of the cover back so you can read it - Guns, Grenades, and Gladii.
: There's an article in here on the BV527, civilian-ized SCAR clone produced by Beck & Vinter.

Virvel and Frisk sit down in the seats in front of you two.
: So, how'd it go?

Yui relaxes in the fire and brimstone of hell. She says something about how it's not hot enough, while really wishing she'd just shot the lock.

Markus takes a seat near Jaakko.

Graf sighs. He doesn't know what to do.

"I..."

Two voices spring up in his subconscious - one in Aesthian, one in Gothic.

How can the AWACS just... tell us to leave her?

[The CSAR team will get her. Stop overreacting.]

She was my comrade!

[That doesn't matter! Do you want to come back to the carrier or spend so much time agonizing over a 'comrade' you'll miss the extraction squad and die alone?!]

With a deep, resigned sigh, he tunes out the mental battle within him and regains composure. Almost.

"Y-yes sir. Heading for extraction point once more."

The stutter would be new to anyone who knew him - he was always a closed man, who didn't like to display emotions - yet here he was.

Thank the Ark no one from Mjolnir can hear.

He decides to run again towards the extraction point and look out for snipers. Anything to distract his mind from the mental war happening within.

Jaakko puts his book down and shakes his head. The book isn't in Aesthian.

"Two losses for three airships. Gaffe was one of the losses. Kid just got his new name today too," he replies, "the other was Yui. Haven't heard from her since she punched out. We know Gaffe is down there though."
