Once everyone is aboard, the VTOL's doors are shut and it is brought out to the recovery deck to be launched. Looking out the windows, you can see the technicians in their pressure suits signaling to each other as they perform the final pre-flight checks. This goes on for quite some time, when at last one in a white suit gives the O.K. sign and the lot of them back away towards the wall. With a sudden clang and the groan of heavy machinery, you are hoisted off the floor and gently carried backwards out of the mothership until you see the deck give way to the ground more than three kilometers below. The VTOL's own engines, their idle screaming utterly drowned out by the roar of the Tordenskjold's, remind everyone of their presence as they spool up to full power.

: Hope you're strapped in back there, 'cause here we go!
The VTOL is released from its clamp, and your stomach shoots up into your throat as you drop two dozen feet almost instantly. Before you can even catch your bearings, the craft exits the carrier's slipstream and is violently shaken by the turbulent airflow left in its wake. Finally, after what felt like several minutes of abject terror (in actuality, more like ten to twenty seconds), Virvel levels the VTOL out, and you begin a much smoother flight to the coordinates of Phobos's escape capsule.
