Jaakko studies his gun. The weight of his plate carrier provides him with some sense of comfort. He fights anxiousness by fiddling with his fingers and looking at the landscape outside.

"Have we heard anything from Yui since she was downed?" Jaakko asks.

There isn't much to be seen out the window, all the lights are out below.
: Aren't you her commanding officer? I think you'd know if we had.

"I mean that you've come a long way since we first met. You've learned a lot." She smiles and adds, "like how to comfort people."
: Apparently not, since I did not succeed.

Markus finds himself worried for his squadmate, one he hardly interacted with, let alone saw on the ship or on base. He looks out one of the windows of the VTOL, at the night sky.

: Apparently not, since I did not succeed.
"It doesn't always work. You saw me with... Eremit. What's important is that you try," Cualli assures him.

"So how'd it feel being out there on the ground? Were you scared at all?"

"I haven't heard anything," Jaakko replies.

"I haven't heard anything," Jaakko replies.
: Well, there you go.

The rest of the flight continues in silence until Yui's last known position comes into view.
: You guys awake back there? We're coming up on the roof her beacon was last heard from. Doesn't look... the most stable, so I'm just gonna drop you off and take up a holding pattern while you look for her.

Virvel hovers next to the building and lowers the boarding ramp against the edge of the rooftop.
: Watch your step out there.

"So how'd it feel being out there on the ground? Were you scared at all?"
: No.

Markus snaps back into reality and turns away from the window, readying his equipment. He hops out of the VTOL and heads out, turning on the flashlight on his rifle.

Jaakko disembarks from the VTOL and steps on to the roof. He looks around but is not sure if his eyes had adjusted enough, or if they were sensitive enough at all, to see anything.

Gus retrieves the carbine from the rack, turning on his helmet flashlight with a click. He steps off the ramp and lands on the roof a short distance below.

"Watch your step."

He eyes a blast crater some four meters in front of them. Twisted rebar juts out and into the hole in the roof, the floor below obscured by the dust kicked up by the VTOL. Opposite them, on the other side of the hole, lies the roof access. Gus flicks the safety off of the carbine and waits for the rest of the squad to disembark.

: No.
"Well, it's good that you felt safe, at least. I was certainly worried about you," Cualli tells him.

Faw turns on his helmet flashlight and hops out of the VTOL and out onto the rooftop.

"Scan the rooftop. It doesn't look too big, so it shouldn't take too long."

Faw starts to walk towards the northeast corner of the building.

Jaakko keeps his light off but can see better with the other's lights on.

Faw starts to walk towards the northeast corner of the building.
As you approach the building's corner, you spot something lying in your path- a glistening red, indistinct lump. Judging by what appear to be bloodstains surrounding it, you are fairly certain you have found somebody's entrails.

Shining your light around the roof reveals at least a dozen similar blastmarks, as well as the gore Faw nearly stepped in.

"Well, it's good that you felt safe, at least. I was certainly worried about you," Cualli tells him.
Elu nods in acknowledgement.

Markus looks around with the flashlight, and spots the blast marks first, then the parts of the remains that have already been seen. He points his flashlight around and looks for any other clues as to Yui's whereabouts, already suspecting the worst.

Jaakko turns on his own light and looks around the roof for any signs that a pilot was here, such as a pilot bag or helmet, or any associated kit.

The gore makes Jaakko uncomfortable.
