"...loving... kidding me..."
Markus brings the Fulcrum's nose towards the fleet of fighter aircraft.
"No time for munitions my ass. 1-1, this is 1-3, I suspect we got an enemy informant or something aboard the carrier. There's little other possible explanation for the surprise attack."

"I have no idea where you conjured up that belief," Jaakko replies.

He checks the position and heading of the other squadron in relation to his own.

"Well, then it would need to be someone with knowledge of our flight plan, but I'm surprised that something like that would slip out."
: Or, they looked up. Flying aircraft carriers are hardly the stealthiest things around.

Loose representation:

Ellie starts gunning for one of the Fishbeds.

"...just a thought."
Markus begins pointing his plane towards the enemy squad.

Jaakko punches the afterburner and enters a steep climb, changing his heading so as to face the aggressors.

Lorens turns to face the hostile group and pulls back on the stick to ascend. Ash follows suit.

Walter grimaces at the scraping sound as the condotterio flings out and picks up speed out of the carrier.

"Pisser" he turns to the copilot (or anyone who happens to be assisting him) "Did we lose anything on us or was it just the catapult? I don't want to have to slide this whale in on an airstrip with only half the landing gear."

: Several fighters have broken off from the main group, should we move to intercept?
: No, you stay here. It's just a handful of Fulcrums and Tigersharks. The others should be able to handle them if they're any good.

Crash, Skytracer, Scorch, Snowman, and Blackeye reach missile range without getting any response from the South Aesthian planes. Once there, however, a few of them turn around to engage you.

3 turns to gun range.

: I, ah, I don't think so. Sir. ...I mean, if we did, it's not telling me, so... landing should be fun.

Markus anxiously approaches, with minimal CM, watching for any sign of missile launch.

"I wonder why they aren't launching any more fighters from the other carrier, I think it's obvious we won't be able to nab them all."

"Bell, are they launching the alert fighters on the second carrier?"

"Bell, are they launching the alert fighters on the second carrier?"
: I'm afraid the second carrier didn't have room for both a fighter escort and the craft it will be delivering to us. You can see why we have since stopped using those models.

"We will have to cross that bridge when we get there. As for now were continuing to the airfield because it's a lot easier to crash land on something that isn't also moving if we have to."

Ash hears the RWR squeal as the Tigershark picks up on the bandit MiGs' BVR scans.

"I've got spikes from the four bandits that turned to face us," Ash annunciates over the comms channel, "For bringing half their loving airforce, they don't seem to think much of us. Snowman, Blackeye, ascend another angel and go wide. If we make it through the missile screen, I'll bait the bandits and you jump in after."

"Blackeye, roger. I'll fly cover."

Ash looks out the canopy and watches Lorens climb and pull further away.

"You know what to do after you make a run or if someone tries to tail you, right?"

"Yeah. Extend to high, maintain an energy advantage. Don't try to turn fight. They can't fly or climb as fast as we can."

"Alright. Good. I just wanted to make sure."

Lorens sighs into his mask.

"You can trust me. Honestly Ash, I'm the one who's supposed to be acting concerned. For the love of Ark, can you please promise me you won't do anything stupid?"

"You're talking to the wrong guy, Snowman. I don't do stupid."

"Like hell you don't," Lorens mutters under his breath.

"CIC how soon until the rest of the Djuriskas are out here with us?"

Jaakko continues accelerating and gaining altitude.
