what gender am I?

alright, to clear this up - i forgot to actually give otela a gender before i started the adventure. don't know how it passed by but when the question came up i realized i hadnt set one. so i just played along and asked what the users preferred. the answers i got were 'calculator' and 'girl' so obviously i just went with the latter. i'm gonna settle on this. don't debate further about it. i mean hell, why do you need to know, anyways? it's not really gonna have an effect on the plot as far as i'm concerned.

anyways now that i've cleared that up, it's time for a text update because i was mostly working on projects and doing my own stuff to release stress. good news is, i found out my tablet pen works now, however i dunno if ill use it since ive stuck with doing it by mouse. but i get a little irked by some of my drawings, so ill try it.

Yes.
OK, you heard what he said. Maybe you should stay safe, try to avoid contact with undesirables.
(But seriously, say you don't have any money and you'd appreciate guidance)
You feel pretty concerned about it, but you kinda feel like maybe you should just go...
reply with something to the effect of "That depends on where I am. If this is a military base? Research station? Submarine arcology? What is Boatu and where specifically am I?"
You reply again, more specifically about what this place is, assuming it's 'Boatu', and if not, then what Boatu is.
Xander hesitates a bit then goes on to explain. "Yes, this is Boatu. It is the largest and capital island of the Excess Islands. I'm not gonna go on too long with the history and the Kabachi natives. There are 7 main islands in the chain. They were all originally massive military complexes and sub pens and proving grounds back in the Great Wars, for experimental marine vehicles and aircraft. It was closed in the late 70s when the Great Wars ended then was re-inhabited by US citizens and natives. It was called the 'Concrete Heart' by soldiers back when it was in use by military, and sometimes still is referred to it as that.
Simply put, the nearest military presence is just me. You're not technically supposed to be here, though, but you're not gonna be shot or detained. Not while I'm around to at least escort you around so you don't look like some nosy photographer or nuisance."

ask what branch of the military it belongs to and why he's wearing a mask

Ask if you can go to the top of the ship and gaze at the ocean.

Xander answers, "This isn't really military owned anymore. It used to be a hub for the US Navy and Air Force, but that was 40 years ago; It's purely civilian land now, aside from some military posts. I'm just one of the few guards on the ship, from the Excess Island army. However, the EI army is more of a national guard. Full military action would be handled by the US military forces, which pretty much outnumber the EI army by 3/4ths, since it's US territory."
"Anyways, let's not sit around here anymore. I'll go get a map for you, and you can go somewhere while I go check back in. I'm off for now after that trip, so I should have some time to guide you around. I'm not really a regular worker, I was just selected for this position."
You walk down the hall. It's bleak but not as dark and grimy like the port area. Xander tells you to wait here while he checks in with the staff.

It'll be a little while until he gets out.

Take those letters and rearrange them to say FAST, and remove the extra F. That'll tell them to go FASTer.

There's not much to see. Xander is out of sight and now it's just other workers. You think someone might've seen you.

Not much relevant information here. Some things about the port you don't really care about. There is, however, the news about civil unrest. You remember Xander saying something about that, and the reason he was hired. It says that recently there have been conspiracies that between natives to this island and citizens from the US mainland, they have been trafficking weapons to arm up for a civil conflict.
Xander steps out of the staff room.

He hands you the EXCESS ISLAND MAP.
"Right, where do you think we should head to first?"
