"only goes" like he's making it seem like no big deal
"yeah, only mach 3, no biggie. It's not like it's mach 8, pfff."

mars now has a multi-million man self sustaining colony, as does venus
Who would want to live in this toxic hellhole?
Who said it was a thing, missiles go faster than the human body can take anymore.
Well, Hellhound did. I also thought when you said "they've made things much faster that it by now." I assumed you thought the same.

Yea, only. Mach 3 is not fast enough to get away from a Russian S-400 which has a maximum engagement envelope of Mach 14, the 40N6 missile itself can travel at Mach 5.9. Plus, even Air-to-Air missiles carried on fighters like the R-77 have a speed of Mach 4 which would be capable of engaging such aircraft.

I am making it seem like no big deal because a Mach 3 reconnaissance plane like the SR-71 would not survive modern air defense.

yeah like, I mean, who would want to live in a coal mine. wtf. so obviously there's no reason to make coal mines

It was compared to units like Russia's planned main missile defense the S-400. The missile's max speed is mach 14. It's not a big deal.

Er, wrong. The missile itself travels at Mach 5.9, but is capable of engaging threats traveling at Mach 14.

Venus's atmosphere is toxic af and is constantly having volcanic eruptions, I see building a colony there as useless. Plus there is also the fact that we still have not managed to get anything into the atmosphere without it failing.

Hooray, we're in the future

Oh thanks. It's been a while since I read about it. My point still stands.

I would certainly hope we've terraformed Mars and Venus by this milestone.

i was more banking on biodomes for mars and those flying cities NASA proposed for venus

i'm still bankin on lewinsky machines

>plasma
yeah make something that gives users 3rd degree burns

I just wish Lockheed would revive the SR-71 Blackbird. The plane didn't need any missile defense systems - it loving outran the missiles.
SR-71: 2,200 mph
S-400: 11,000 mph

edit: I am late to the party :(

that means its already been used for at least a decade lol.
