Sounds like you acquired a BRAND NEW Boot Sector Virus!!

I am sorry for your loss (I got one in my first PC, had to get a new one).

For more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_sector

How the forget does one overclock a 6-core 3.1 Ghz processor?
The same way you overclock any CPU

So we're supposed to trust the word of someone who bought an entirely new PC because they had a virus?

What the virus does is loop the start up. A new hard drive should also fix.

P.S. The PC that I had when I got my virus was a $20 refurbished piece of sh*t

A new hard drive should also fix.
You're missing the point completely
Why are you buying any new hardware at all when you could just remove the virus.
Worst case you need to reformat

What the virus does is loop the start up.
interrupt the startup and boot into safe mode/recovery mode. i've dealt with a virus (rather, a horde of viruses because the owner of the computer didn't know how to use a computer properly) that resulted in a boot loop. aim for recovering the machine before you dump a bunch of money on a new one.

additionally, boot loops can be caused by a motherboard failure, as was the case in my sister's computer.

Would having your hardware being caked in dust cause the issue? I did reformat and it still rebooted. It alsostopped recognizing my GPU.

I took apart my computer, should have it rebuilt by this weekend.

uh, possibly? dust that stuff out bruh

but yeah, reseat all the components and whatnot.

So after painstakingly pulling apart the computer, cleaning it, and then putting the stupid stuff all back together, turns out the hard drive was causing the issue. We hard booted the computer after putting it back together because we were trying to do another system cleanse, then the hard drive just died.

So I'll be out of PC gaming for a while until I get another hard drive.

have you tried turning it on and off again

maybe it's windows update

The problem is obviously AMD...

Bump:

So after two weeks of bullstuff, my motherboard gives out and kills itself. I don't know what happened or why, but it just died after I plugged in the new hard drive I ordered. I'm using a prebuilt I purchased about a year and a half ago.
I salvaged the GPU, RAM, and hard drive. All of those parts work fine, but the PSU and CPU are being ditched. I'm considering whether or not to sell my GPU because I want to start a fresh new build with brand new parts, all the way around (except HDD obviously).

PSU six to seven years old; 1000 Watts.
CPU is half a year old, six-core Vishera with 3.1-3.9 GHz.

Thanks for the help erryone.

I have a AMD rig and it doesn't do this.

it....died? that happened to me once
your gonna need to get a new harddrive.
well thats what I had to do..
