To be honest this thing is more for the basic users like students or anyone that just needs a simple laptop. But it would have been nice to have 2 USB Ports instead.Usually once one company jumps on board with a new technology the rest start doing so gradually as well; and if any company can do that it would be Apple. Take Tablets and Apple Pay for example; both were around long before the iPad or Apple Pay, but it never really took off until Apple stepped its foot in the game.
If you are carrying a computer you should probably have a travel case for it (see below), and to be honest Apple laptops are some of the most unbreakable laptops I have used (wish I could say the same for the iPhone), I have dropped them on a few occasions over the years (sometimes my fault sometimes not) and the most that happens is a dent or something small like that.

And for me I do think thinner is easier to use, because my school gives us all MacBook Air's, which fits perfectly in my already overstuffed book filled backpack. I honestly don't even think I could fit a MacBook Pro in there if I tried.

But anyway, it's all based on personal preference and requirements.

That's what I was trying to say. I don't find Apple computers breakable at all. Those things are sturdy as heck. But you're right, everyone should use a case.

So what, are we just going to stick with USB 2.0 and 3.0 forever? You have to make the change sometime.
sure, change is good. but you can't just immediately replace something that's still being used. nobody uses it anymore, but regardless my computer still has one FireWire port. because... idk. maybe you'll find some old thing you have that connects with one of those. and FireWire wasn't even that common anyway. the rectangular USB connectors, however, are insanely popular. they should've stuck at least one of them on it

apple did the same thing with disc drives and floppy drives, theyre trying (and may be accurate) to predict the future
personally i dont even use usb devices on my laptop so please remember that not everyone is a gamer who needs a core i7 and 8gb ram, which this forum is filled with
this laptop is aimed at the soccer mom or student or whatever who will just be writing a paper or checking facebook, not making movies or doing some 3d intensive gaming

I'm allergic to apple skins.

Also I'm broke.

what
how is this relevant
soccer moms and students have phones to charge, thumb drives to store stuff on, stuff like that. you don't have to be a gamer to need a USB port, lol

i can just tape an iphone to my wrist and bam new apple watch!

the problem is that a lot of people jump to conclusions as soon as they hear the faintest trace of the word "pc"

"hey I just want a good laptop that can play-"
"NO! LAPTOPS ARE PURE AND UTTER TRASH! DESKTOPS ARE THE BEST, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU ASKED FOR!"

"i heard that new apple mac thing is-"
"FRICKING APPLE SHEEPLE! ALWAYS SELLING YOUR SOUL TO SOME CORPORATIONeven though microsoft does the same thing because they almost monopolize the os industryYOU DISGUST ME!"

"all I want is a computer that can just-"
"PLAY CATTLEFIELD 4: FARMER'S REVENGE??? OH I DEFINITELY KNOW A SETUP SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT WHICH'LL RUN YOU AROUND FOUR HUNDRED BIG ONES."

maybe i'm looking at this from the wrong angle but you really shouldn't need to charge your phone more than once a day (if you do you need to get a hobby or get some clinical help or something), like i said i don't ever use a usb dongle at all
dropbox, google drive, and icloud are things that arent used at all, obviously
apple is not looking at "whats happening know", they're looking at the "whats most likely to happen" and for the most part i think they're correct
sure there are downsides but you could say the same thing about getting rid of the floppy drive or disc drive on their older models, and how many people do you know now that actually care about those nowadays?

I might actually consider buying the watch, I do so much traveling that the GPS and social features would be very useful compared to propping my phone or iPad up somewhere in the car.

I remember when those glowing waterproof digital watches were popular at my elementary school, later on came the ipod and mp3 player, then in junior high it became the cell phone(back when he had flip phones and sliding phones). Then late junior high and early school comes around and it became the smart phone.

If there's one thing I love about Apple, it's their build quality. Their laptops very sturdy.

Also, about the missing USB port; they probably should have included both USB and USB-C in my opinion.

Not a fan of Apple's fan base.

For example most praise Apple as the inventor of the smart phone and touch screen technology when it was IBM who did all that.

You also have people like Dennis Ritchie who made great and significant contributions to the computing world, but his death went widely unnoticed. Then you have Steve jobs who is just some turtled neck hipster who was praised as jesus of computing when all he did was tell people what to do made make tons of inferior products made by Chinese sweatshop labor.
