Author Topic: Unreal Engine 4 or Unity 5?  (Read 3471 times)

I've been having some very difficulty spikes with Unity 5 on a game I'm working on that delayed me a lot to progress on the development of it, I'm not too much of a coder and sadly Unity relies a LOT on coding, but I've heard that Unreal uses a blueprint system that can be very useful and handy for people who don't code and you can literaly make full games just by using the thing, but I want to play "safe" and ask the community their opinions and tips, what do you say? Unity 5 or Unreal Engine 4? (Sorry for any typing mistakes I typed that on my phone)

i've always been a fan of the unreal engine so naturally i'd recommend unreal 4. the blueprint visual scripting is as good as it sounds.
in general i believe the engine is better than unity in many ways.

as for the graphical capabilities,

The engine has nothing to do with stock models

those are premade models, you can buy so you dont have to model things for yourself. even textures

Unity also has a blueprint system, but it's user-made and costs money off the asset store

It's called playmaker but is $95. Costly, but if you want to stick with unity it can be very helpful for you:

unreal all the way. Unity wouldn't have gone free anyway, if it werent for Unreal.

Unity is a programmer's playground. Unreal is a designer's universe.

I'm a designer. I don't have time to forget around and build all my own core-systems. I need base code in immediately so I can get to work prototyping gameplay elements, level designs and graphics.

Unreal is the ultimate engine of my dreams. Unity feels so backwards and difficult.

Iv played with both, for some reason I found Unreal 4 easier to grasp and understand over Unity.

Also ya, you are gonna want to design your own stuff and not buy them, not much originality if you buy them.
