Author Topic: HAWKEN [Update - HAWKEN dev servers going back online!]  (Read 3215 times)

That's right... Apparently, the still-in-beta HAWKEN, only the most epic mech FPS game ever (totally not opinionated...) has finally created another Facebook post for the first time in the better part of a year. Their last post before today was July 29th. Then, it abrubtly halted. The game activity slowed; people assumed it was dead. The only thing that kept it alive was the fact that a) it's awesome, and b) its servers stayed up this whole time. And now, it's back. Check their FB page for the latest update.

I’m pretty excited to *now* be able to announce that Reloaded Games is the new owner of Hawken. It’s a seriously great honor to be a part of the Hawken story, and I want to see it thrive. Once the forums are up we will post more information (they’ve been taking a lot longer than I was hoping).

Just to confirm, yes, Hawken is here to stay.
I haven’t been able to say *anything* until just this afternoon, but here’s a checklist of things we’ll be working on:
Fix password reset
Get Forums working again
Fix more deployment stuff
Fix a bunch of tools systems
Play Hawken
Fix more back end systems
Play more Hawken and get rolled by the good players
Fix Fix Fix (yeah, lots of this)
Plan new updates and future changes

roosterpit cracked. Low on oxygen. Repair drone offline. Wow that was a big freakin' boom. Gonna take some time to fix these dents and bring her back online.

I guess we’d better get started... Heading back to base on reserve power... Will update report as soon as repairs are underway...

mechwarrior is so above y'all he don't even care

*raises hand*

Question! Have either of you yet experienced HAWKEN?  :cookieMonster:

I have. It sucked ass when I played it.

Yes, I found it rather boring after the first few matches. With Titanfall and Mechwarrior I feel good when I get kills. With Armored Core (and Chromehounds) I'm the one who designed the mech, I'm the one who pilots the loving robot, I'm both the loving granddad and grandson. With Hawken, I don't get any of that.
And I'm sitting here playing Chromehounds. Mhm
weren't the servers for chromehounds shut down?

"Chromehounds NA release:July 11, 2006"

Holy crap. I haven't even touched it since like 2013. That game 9 years old...

HAWKEN, only the most epic mech FPS game ever
That's not how you spell Mechwarrior 3. Or did you misspell casual as "epic".

Guess I'm not allowed my opinions... But what else did I expect from you guys?

Anyway, other games aside, this is still exciting news for its fanbase.

It's weird to say the only issue I found with HAWKEN was cosmetic but it is.
Weapons feel like peashooters. Like seriously it's CoD level of peashooting. They are loving mechs I want to see some awesome boom bass and reaction dammit. It feels odd to play.

Based on the scaling of the mechs, though, the weaponry is appropriate for the size. Sure, the sounds maybe aren't quite as heavy-hitting as they should be, but overall it's more realistic than other mech games I've seen (in terms of reasonable weaponry, that is).

EDIT: I didn't have time to say this before, but I do agree with you, to a point. The sounds could be better. The reactions could be improved (maybe knockback; a little?); but overall, I believe it is pretty close to realism. I'm not sure if that's what you'd prefer, but that's how I see it.

Also, everyone needs to keep in mind: this game is still very much in beta. Things are liable to changes; improvements will be made. Nothing is concrete yet.

you're playing a game about robot chickens that can fly, i would take big heavy blasty gun effects over ''''''''''realism'''''''''' any day

Hawken mechs are based around some of the more practical Japanese designs.
