It's a "simpler" word for "pathogen" which is the umbrella term for disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites (protozoan or animal), or even prions
But yeah sperm itself doesn't cause any disease (unless you want to argue pregnancy is a disease), it's other things in the semen
