Author Topic: Engine upgrade *read please*  (Read 3068 times)

Well i see your guy's point of view on this, i had no idea it was really that hard.
Here's one way to look at it: If it was easy, it would have been done by now

i mean it's been said already but it's just not worth the effort

it's a lot easier to just work with what we have and make the most of it. that's kinda the battle of development anyway i guess

Ive decided to stop playing blockland after the 8 years
I call bullstuff.
You even only have a vague understanding of who the lead developers of the game are and what is going on inside the game.

If it is true, I am saddened. Have you been sitting under a rock all of this time? There is a certain line after which you should be expected to be contributing to the game in the form of content at least and 9 8 years is way past that.

Alright, can we add features then? Instead of Reprogramming and upgrading? such as the ability to add Sound regions and such?

Or... you can wait for that hat update like a normal person?

Ive decided to stop playing blockland after the 8 years ive been playing it.

pretty sure this isn't the profile for a player which has been playing for 8 years.

"If a sound is too long for a gun I.E, when the gun shoots, the sounds will overlap each other and then cut out, making the gun silent."

This is bullstuff false

Demo is a thing

Demo is a thing
i played the demo for blockland when i was in the 5th grade. in Sixth grade i got the full thing. Then i just played at servers to learn controls, i remember spending allot of time at Gravity cat's TDM server. i didn't even know what the Blockland forums were back then :/. i didn't just buy the game and log in to the forums immediately, i didn't even know what this game was, i was still figuring it out. When i realized that the forums was a place to get addons and give feedback on the addons, i signed up....

No its quite true, just take a good look at Sheepacolypes Modern weapons pack. If i fire the weapons in a large burst the audio cuts out.

Is it Blockland's fault that some add-on is badly made?

I didnt say that, stop trying to lead this discussion into an argument. What im trying to say that if we the blocklanders were given some sound tools, instead of having to cut a 5 second gun sound to a 0.5 second sound and fade out, this wouldnt be a problem. Its not blockland's fault for not having this in here, but it would be great if we had access to this sort of tool, thus the reason i suggested an engine upgrade. But ive realized that its not as easy as i thought.

That's because there are too many sounds playing at the same time. It has nothing to do with sounds "canceling out."

What ever you wanna call it, the point im trying to make is if we had these tools these kind of issues would not be occuring.

If badspot (or any other dev) isnt going to add maps/terrains back, he probably isnt going to upgrade the engine either, heck, he rarely updates this game majorly (or even minorly) anyway

If badspot (or any other dev) isnt going to add maps/terrains back

How many times must we go over how piss poor the maps/terrain was?

they were crappy but it saved alot of build time for something like the layout for a Fortwar.
