Author Topic: Engine upgrade *read please*  (Read 3030 times)

How many times must we go over how piss poor the maps/terrain was?

Thats your own opinion, other people may think the maps looked great, others may think it looked like a pile of cow dung, but they are just opinions, and you are not speaking for everyone when you say your opinion

I'm stating an actual fact of how they work in-game. Personally I liked terrain and maps, and I'd still play with them in the game, however due to the engine and how shaders and terrains are coded, then having both would kill most players' FPS. So, no, I am in fact not stating an opinion when I say they are piss poor.

Sorry i thought you were talking about the map itself being poor :P

Lets just throw away all player made addons to update the base engine.
Sounds like a plan that will in no way anger anybody.

Id love it if there was a push to upgrade the engine, but I really doubt anyone with the know-how has the drive to do anything about it.

its stable and stirty.
Everything but the physics oh god... And I hate how things have to be low poly
too bad it will be hard to upgrade
it's a lego game, not some realistic bullstuff like call of duty or battlefield
And? it can be realistic it would be pretty good if it was realistic and you took the wrong examples of realistic they are first person shooters and call of duty is NOT realistic atleast anymore cause of black ops 2

And if there was to be an upgrade, there might hopefully be an ability for badspot to bring the eaten bedroom back

How hard can it be?
Just trust absolutly everybody when we say you have no idea what your talking about

Actually, i was thinking about having a code converter script that could translate the torque script into whatever new engine code BS would use, I mean, if it can be done for Windows > Linux, why not Torque > C# or whatever? maybe just do this in unity idk, I mean, a member who is fluent enough in unity could easily have a demo going in less than a week, and loving believe i would if i was good enough with it, but i still need more experience before i can even begin something like that.

Just thinking out loud here.

it can be done for Windows > Linux
explain what you mean by this

explain what you mean by this
It's a program (that i believe is called Wine) and it converts .exe files to files that a linux can work with.

that's not what it does at all

lol
You're funny

unity out-of-the-box cannot recreate blockland well enough to justify the work

and it's a lot more than just "translating" code. blockland also isn't written in just TS.

Code "translators" aren't that easy, and that's a very incorrect comparison, as Fox and ZSNO have stated

See? Now we are brain storming, this is the direction i wanted all of this to go.

For what exactly

This ain't gonna happen

Converting TS to something like C# or any other language really actually wouldn't be that hard for someone who has a lot of experience with it (Trinick, Port, Computermix are 3 examples)
