Actually the main reason was because he got promoted, so he decided to focus more on his new job.

Blockland was released on Steam, Ephialtes ditched the forums (recent news shows he still plays in game occasionally), and Blockland has been repeatedly hit by malicious outside attacks (temporary master server failures and conking out the forums, none too recent though).
