Author Topic: lolbot.net v3.0 for worst website design of the year.  (Read 2144 times)

So, I figured I'd share this here, since the Forums and lolbot.net have had a sort of almost relationship for the past few years, or at least once upon a time.
(Or rather, we started using lolbot some years ago for a YLYL topic, and Sir Bottington noticed the influx of traffic and blockland jokes enough to give us our own imageboard, then went spastic on these forums, got banned, and removed blockbot in a massive hissy fit)
I'm sure there's at least a couple of people who still frequent the website. (I mostly do just for pokebot)

And today, or in the past couple of days, lolbot unveiled a new site redesign, V 3.0, after running a beta that I'm sure nobody really took part in for a few weeks.

And here it is: Lolbot.net

I personally don't think I could've imagined a worse way for viewing pictures on the internet.
Furthermore, they're no jumbled up with all the horrible stuffty text-based jokes and anecdotes that the everyboty community can come up with.

So, discuss and share your opinion on their new site design.

You do know that the everybotty network is filled with 9gaggers and other borderline handicapped users.

I am glad I no longer browse that website. And I loved it so much back in time.
Jesus it looks horrible now.

they are gross and say thinngs like r-r-rreeeeepost

eww
it still looks like it's ten years old :/

So, just like most of their userbase?

The everyboty community was never great, but the content and website was usually at least somewhat good.
And at the very least, it recieved content from a lot of places, but had a small community, so you didn't put up with all the handicaps you might find on sites like 9gag.

Really though, it's main appeal for me is having some more niche boards, like pokebot or radbot.

But yeah, I've stopped using it as much since I got in to using Reddit, since the large variety of subreddits give you access to those rather niche areas too.

And this horrible site redesign, which looks like it has tried to be overly fancy, will probably be the last nail in the coffin, as far as I'm concerned.

block bot or riot!!

also I had no idea this site was even still alive

Wtf is a everyboty and a bot.net. Have I been hiding under a rock or somethin?
Actually after looking at the website before it was way better when it came to the layout. But hey look on the bright side, the banner is way better.

I don't care if the website is stupid, this image just made my day

Wtf is a everyboty and a bot.net.
This sentence confused me at first, because wtfbot is a thing.

lolbot.net started off as an image-sharing website, with comment and rating feature, for funny images.
As well as wallbot.net, which was for wallpapers.
Then it expanded to include a third site, radbot, for "radical images", and then Trolledbot, for images relating to trolling.
Then he started to add more niche "bots", for fandoms like Pokemon (pokebot), Homestuck (homebot) and Blockland (Blockbot).

He got rid of Blockbot after he acted like a richardhead and thought he could get away with breaking our forum rules, because he was supposedely doing us such a great favour in hosting Blockbot, a website he came up with on his own, and simply asked people what they thought of in a single topic here.

Then afterwards he extended to more bots, and began redesigning the website.
Instead of having loads of different bot.net websites, he created "everyboty.net", (a rather stuffty pun on everybody).
And that extended out to include bots on Creepy images, Cute images, Sad images, Food images, Nostalgic images, Anime, My Little Ponies (although this one caused it's own drama, and was being hosted by someone else, but under the name ponybot, and with a similar style), and more.

He also had a Gamebot, where he hosted a bunch of crappy flash games but got rid of them, and then at one point he hosted a "secret" NSFW bot, hosting researchographic images.
This one had 4 different sub-bots.
1 for animated vanilla images, usually poorly looped and cropped, and for some reason almost all of them having a black-and-white filter on them.
1 for still images, which mostly consisted of pictures of girls with their boobs out and their hands posed near their groin.
And then the same again, but with Hentai.

I'm not sure when he got rid of the research bots.

well explained but yeah p much

he joined the forums thinking he was king, when he was banned (or left not sure) he replaced blockbot with the nofunallowed pic but I guess now he doesn't even own the domain anymore

He was banned for admittance to trolling.
It might not have been permanent, in which case he didn't bother to return.

And yeah, he doesn't even have the domain anymore.
And he's changed his domains around too, so the image in that post is now gone.
It was a man with a beard of bees, if I remember correctly.
