Author Topic: What are some pretty nice PS2 (AND PSX) games?  (Read 3656 times)

i thought i was the only person here that loves this game
Seek and Destroy
Not quite.
A bit of a mix between road trip adventure and well, tanks.
Quite the over the top stuff you could do and above all, super fun.

adding PSX games now?

Nitrous Oxide.

ps1 games? Spyro 1-3, Still love playing them to this day.

PS1 games also work on a PS3.
Allowing requests of PS1 games.
But the PS2 can also play PS1 games. Do you not have a PS2? Do you have one of the original PS3's that can play all three of the system's games? Either way here are my few recommendations for the PS1:
Crash Trilogy, Spyro Trilogy, CTR, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 9, Persona 1 & 2, Legend of Legaia, Breath of Fire 3 & 4, Every NFS game, Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Revolution, Rage Racer, Ridge Racer R4, Motor Toon GP, Ape Escape, Wipeout Trilogy, Megaman Legends, Pac-Man World, All 5 of the Namco Museum games, Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness, Robotron X, Tempest X3, Gran Turismo & 2, Klonoa, Resident Evil Trilogy, Stuart Little 2, Tetris Plus, Toy Story 2, Gex Trilogy, Rayman, Hot Wheels Turbo Racing, Lego Racers, Vigilante 8, every Twisted Metal Game, and Incredible CrCIA
That's it for now, I'll probably deliever some more games later.
Oh stuff, I almost forgot. You need to get Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Sadly, I don't. However, I do have PCSX2 and ePSXe to play either of those systems on my PC. And I am going to legitimately buy them.

Oh okay, that clears some things up. Anyway, you should be able to find both the PS2 and PS1 in moderately good condition for cheap these days. Also if you want you can buy the games right now and put them in your computer and play them with PCSX2 and ePSXe. PS1 games emulate very well, but personally I've had many problems running PS2 games. Like for example BFBB and RTA run great with a couple of hiccups here and there, but every NFS game is unplayable on the emulator.

Depends on the system. Mine doesn't run ps1 or ps2, but I've heard that some systems were made to run them.

I've recently started a new profile on Gran Turismo 2. Likely the best racing game in terms of realism and gameplay for a PS1 system. Sucks though that I can only have one save slot per memory card (I have a two sided memory card, where pushing a button switches the sides).

gex 3
any tony hawk game
ssx tricky

what model do you have? I have the slim model (the good one) that doesn't run PS2 games but can run PS1 games.

release model was a giant space-wasting piece of work because it pretty much had a PS2 in it, right?

Yeah Mine is the slim, had it since my 15th birthday. Both my ps1 and ps2 work almost perfectly (ps2 actually in worse shape than ps1, freezes up on some games) so I don't really have a need for ps3 that can play games from other generations.

More PS1 games:
Rollcage and Rollcage Stage II, Possibly one of the best ports I've seen the graphics are amazing for the system, the framerate is smooth and it's fun as hell. No One can Stop Mr. Domino!, nice puzzle game and you can get it cheap these days. Blast Radius, any of the Bust-a-Move games, Ace Combat Trilogy, Colin McRae Rally, Colony Wars, Brave Fencer Musashi, Doom (Actually one of the best ports of the game), Grandia, GTA 1,2 & London, Herc's Adventures, Intelligent Qube, Lemmings & Oh No! More Lemmings, Lunar and it's sequel, MediEvil 1&2, Tatics Ogre, and the Tekken Trilogy.

PS2 games:
Black, Aqua Aqua, Darkwatch, Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts (Xbox version is slightly better, but you're still getting the same experience here), Ape Escape 2 & 3 (Superb platformers especially 3), Micro Machines V4, Rayman Revolution, Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc, Robot Alchemic Drive, XIII, Xenosaga games, and the .hack games.
