Saab AB rolls out an overhaul of the Gripen NG+ in service with the Union Air Force with all-new avionics and a lightweight airframe using composite materials. The engine was replaced with one with a higher output from the ongoing high-efficiency engines development program in Sweden's government. The Exis Switchblade, now designated the Exis Delta and the original Exis fighter received similar upgrades. The Exis Delta's variable geometry wings have also been upgraded with a faster mechanism for transitioning from forward-swept wing configuration to conventional swept wing mode, and it received additional weapons and equipment capacity too.
The original Exis was outfitted with more armor and upgraded thrusters, enabling them to operate in the atmosphere when they could originally only be used for space. These thrusters give the Exis better maneuverability and hovering capability. As a piece of background, these thrusters were removed from the Delta variant during development since the Exis Delta was meant only for normal air combat.
On another note, the single squadron of Phoenix aircraft is equipped with laser weaponry and newer onboard systems (engines, avionics).
