Author Topic: Nintendo announces new system code named Nx and smartphone games  (Read 1591 times)

as the wii u proved, "brand new" != good

I'm going to be honest, I'm not even sure to exactly respond to this.
I would say the name doesn't completely suck ass, but then again it is only the codename.

How does 7 sentences (half of them being quotes) count as journalism?

idk how this is relevant but it presented the information and that's all it needed to do

i really hope nobody is planning on judging the hardware before it's even announced, literally all we have is an ambiguous and generic codename

can someone give me a non kotaku article

At a press conference announcing their big mobile gaming deal, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has also spoken briefly (and surprisingly) about Nintendo's next piece of dedicated hardware.

Seeking to put off questions that Nintendo's future would be entirely mobile, Iwata says that Nintendo is still very much in the "dedicated video game system market", and that their next piece of gaming hardware is code-named the "NX".56789

"Nintendo has decided to deploy its video game business on smart devices, but it is not because we have lost our passion or vision for the business of dedicated video game systems", he said.

"On the contrary, because now we have decided on how we will make use of smart devices, we have come to hold an even stronger passion and vision for the dedicated video game system business than before."10

"As proof that Nintendo maintains strong enthusiasm for the dedicated game system business", Iwata adds, "let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand new concept under the development codename 'NX'."1112131415...17

And...that's it. Iwata says Nintendo will share more information about the new hardware "next year".181920

While it's easy to suspect that this new device will be a replacement for the ailing Wii U, the fact this is Nintendo using the words "brand new concept" mean it could be anything.

fighting the good fight

it also might be more accurate in suggesting that the NX console might work in tandem with the other two consoles

or something along those lines i couldn't be bothered to pay attention to it

later in the decade we'll have the new nintendo nx xl

thats really all whats known about the whole thing. theres nothing else to say

isn't this kind of a strange time to reveal a new console? like why not at PAX or e3 or something

they haven't really revealed anything

to my understanding they were talking about mobile games or w/e and just said it as a side note to make sure people didn't think they were abandoning more traditional gaming hardware stuff
