Author Topic: I think I might have Osteoarthritis or something  (Read 687 times)

So I was eating my cereal this morning and when I was done I picked up the bottle of milk with my left hand to pur it back in the refrigerator but while lifting it my hand suddenly started to hurt like hell and dropped the bottle because I couldn't bear it.  (yes it did hurt that much). Funny thing Is my mother also has Osteoarthritis and it might be because of that, duno. I had complains before but it has never been that worse.

So wtf is Osteoarthritis?
Quote
Osteoarthritis (OA) also known as degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease or osteoarthrosis, is a group of mechanical abnormalities involving degradation of joints, including articular cartilage and subchondral bone. Osteoarthritis is caused by mechanical stress on the joint, and (unlike rheumatoid arthritis), is not caused by inflammation, although inflammation can result from the physical damage. Symptoms may include joint pain, tenderness, stiffness, locking, and sometimes an effusion. The main cause is limb misalignment, combined with hereditary, developmental, and metabolic factors, which leads to loss of cartilage, sometimes exposing and damaging the underlying bone. Pain makes it difficult to exercise, so muscles may atrophy. OA commonly affects the hands, feet, spine, and the large weight bearing joints, such as the hips and knees
Whats wierd that older people have this... And I'm only 15?
I googled my symptons and only have about 3 different kinds of cancer.

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that causes chronic joint pain. I know how it feels.

I don't have any problems

I have an apparent hereditary back problem that my dad also has. I also deal with joint pain in my right hip sometimes as well as my knees, but they are by no means constant and recur rarely.

my back hurts because i sit a lot

Maybe your hand is lactose intolerant

or it could have just started hurting for no apparent reason
like a charlie horse, muscles contracting or something like that

Highly unlikely that you have Osteo.

If you have any arthritis, you have juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. This isn't caused by wear-and-tear, as with Osteo.
Instead, your immune system attacks the synovial fluid around your joints, causing swealing and pain. It's relatively uncommon in younger people, but they can still develop it.
Usually the swelling is symmetrical down your body, and you'll often have the pain in the same place on the opposite side.

Go see your doctor and get tested if you're worried.
If they believe it's an arthritis then they can perform specific tests for it.
X-Rays prove the existence of osteoarthritis as it shows damage to the bone and missing cartilage.
Blood tests can prove the existence of Rhematoid Arthritis, as you'll have the rheumatoid factor, as well as abnormally high white-blood cell counts, among other things.

It's likely just an injury, or a dislocation perhaps.

You do move about though. You could've just knocked it into something, like a doorway.

Or turned over in your sleep and knocked it on your bed or the wall or a cabinet.

Then it would just hurt in the morning, not when I pick things up.

i have this problem where almost all times of the day i need to put some combination of products made of plants and animals into my mouth and then cycle it through my starfish.

My mom said I have arthritis because it runs in the family, I also have levoscoliosis from my back injury.

I sometime bring up my hand hurts during dinner or something to get checked but my mom doesn't get the hint.
"You spend too much time behind your computer, thats why your hand hurts"
