Not really, "Halo 3 forge was stuff" is what you said. It wasn't stuff, its just not as good as the others.
I meant compared to what we have now.

IK im late but still
idk if this was posted but anyways...

I think that you play as Master Chief, but whichever one wins (ex. you almost die, so agent whatever his face is wins) will shoot you, or if you win you shoot agent whatever his face is

Halo 3's forge is the worst forge because all of the following ones are better.
So the first Zelda game is the worst Zelda game because it doesn't have all the features of the newer ones?

There is no "worst" Forge. They all worked perfectly and allowed players to do things you couldn't in previous games.

I still prefer Halo 3's Forge to Halo 4 because of the map selections and the props.

But it didn't have the snapping and advanced features that newer Halos have for Forge

There's no need to compare one thing to a completely different thing, X is now old and dated because Y is the same as X, but with new features and many improvements, thus making Y better than X

Halo 4's forge is a lot more handy than Halo 3's

It's that simple

It's that simple
But it's not.

I just said I prefer Halo 3's selection of maps, and the wider range of level props for making machinima maps.

Snapping is handy, but it's not something I'm going to detest a game for not having. I was doing fine in Halo 3 without it anyway.

Personally I prefer halo 2's PC forge mechanics beyond anything else, but love the selection of props they gave us in halo 3. If there was a halo game that was just dedicated to forge, sort of like an off branch title, it'd be my type of game.

No forge budget limit, thousands of set pieces, terrain, materials, buildings, scripted objects for you to chose from
Imagine distinct maps that are 10km x 10km, like a desert, ocean/island, forest, mountains, and space.
Imagine loads of various vehicles and weapons from the UNSC and Covenant, from the game AND the novels. A multitude of vehicles to chose from.
32x32 or 64x64 vs games involving ALL of the UNSC forces against the Covenant.

Script and edit missions, make ai battles, change the lighting and scenery with tweaked forge mechanics.
Create a custom campaign or make the best damn map of Halo's history.
Being able to play as a Jackal sniper in the cliffs or dropping down out of orbit as an ODST.

I've been dreaming about a game like this for so long. The only logical thing to do would be to recommend this to someone higher up @343 and hope for a response, chances are either way they'd either come to a decision that "that's a bad idea" or "we don't have time to copy assets from our game and paste it onto a previous engine and add multiplayer support because we're too busy killing the halo franchise".

;_;

Personally I prefer halo 2's PC forge mechanics
Do you mean the H2V HEK? Because that was a proper editing kit, except it was locked down heavily by Microsoft (mostly likely to prevent cheating for achievements on Windows Live).

i don't think that really counts then lol

We are talking about the forge. Not the maps or objects. The forge mode itself.

To be fair, the objects and things you were allowed to use in forge were locked depending on what map you were on.

Forge is all about item placement in order to change the flow of a level (or to make your own maps for special gametypes/machinima etc). The items you can place are the most important part of Forge, because it decides how much you can actually change.

I really, honestly don't give a stuff about snapping. Halo 3's Forge was the one I had the most fun with.

So you're saying forge is for adding things to already existing maps and making your own maps is just an extra thing? If that's the case, then why are forge maps generally large empty spaces for you to make your own?

What are you on about?

Forge is a level editor which allows you to place/move/remove/modify properties for objects within pre-built maps. You cannot modify the geometry of the level, change the scripts, textures, lighting, AI, and you can only use objects which were selected for the map. You also have a "budget" which you cannot exceed.

You cannot make your own maps. You can make variants of pre-existing maps (which I refer to as "levels"), but you cannot make anything from scratch.

The new Halo 2A forge maps are literally giant empty skyboxes.
You can add terrain and you can make simple scripts using the tools provided.
Then you can make buildings, vehicles, weapons, spawns, objectives, etc.

So yeah, pretty much making maps from scratch.

You are using pre-made parts, but it's a console level editor. It's as "from scratch" as it's going to get imo.
