Author Topic: Do you believe in any kind of afterlife?  (Read 11884 times)

I was curious about what you guys think. Do you believe in any kind of life after death, whether it's full-on heaven or just the remains of our souls? Or do you think we return to a state much like how we are before we're conceived?

Please try not to let this spiral down into a big religion war, guys. Anyway, /discuss.

I hope there is, I'm not really sure if there is one or not, or what it is like.

I'm a Christian and believe in heaven for all of those who accept Jesus Christ as their savior

Yeah, but I'm currently thinking through it.

I believe the ones who believe in Jesus as their Lord and savoir will enter the kingdom of God. Those who do not believe in him as your Lord and savoir will be damned to the depths of hell.

I'm fond of the idea that i'll just be reborn as another person in a different life.

But thats unlikely

Because there is no evidence supporting the claim of an afterlife, I do not. But like a lot of people, I do sincerely hope there is.

I believe in that shiet, yeah.

Not heaven and hell though, just one place for afterlife, and the good bois get to be re-incarnated.

I believe in afterlife, yes. But its hard to contemplate the idea of being in heaven or hell for eternity. As I think what happens if I die, I think "Oh, I only go to heaven forever. That's not too long." But realize that all I ever know, or think of is in my current life, which makes me go mad thinking about being alive, or dead, or with God forever. Like, I think all people want to think that they either,
1. Die and that's it
or 2. They die and go to Heaven, because they are scared of going to Hell forever.

I don't know if if this makes any sense, so Ill put it into other words:
I believe in heaven, but am scared of the idea of being somewhere forever, because I cannot contemplate it, because I only know what life is.

nope. its gonna be just like before you were born. literally endless amounts of time gone in the blink of an eye until the end of our universe. :)
that's not to be feared though. i guess it just helps people reconcile with death to think that they will go to a magical sky kingdom instead.

it just seems odd to me that i was born a human. with so much life on earth why was I born as the most intelligent being? it's pretty surprising but I guess I just got lucky. extreme odds are just that. someone is always lucky.

the concept of hell is laughable. "if an immortal all-knowing sky daddy doesn't think you believed in him hard enough of of hundreds of thousands of other gods throughout history you will get tortured by a goat-man for all time"

its an obvious fear mechanic. hell is clearly fake-- so don't let it dictate your life. religious belief (if true) is sort of like a lottery ticket. "OH COME ON JESUS PLEASE BE THE REAL GOD COME ON COME ON COME ON OH DAMN IT WAS ZEUS GUESS I'M GETTING TORTURED FOREVER"
