Author Topic: Actual Time Daycyle  (Read 1140 times)

A script that uses the current time of the server to change the day cycle accordingly.
For example, if it is night in real life where you live, it will be night in Blockland.
Somewhat like FSX
lol why'd I say weather before

/support

This would be great for 24/7 servers.

There should be a box where you can tick on to activate the realtime daycycle based on the time it shows on your computer in the enviroment settings GUI, or a /command, someone please make this happen.

You could set the day cycle time to 86400 seconds (24 hours) and then adjust the offset to roughly match the location of the sun in real life.

Yea but for the people who do not know how to do that :/

Who don't know how to do what? There's nothing else to it, all that you need to do is right there in front of you.

It would be easier if we had a addon instead of doing manually ok?

it takes like 5 seconds lol

What would also be nice is if it could be reformatted to be sensitive to elevation in the sky, rather than time increments, and then have a latitude adjuster from 90° to -90°, and a slider for summer solstice to winter solstice, there would be a check box for allowing seasons to change, and if enabled, the seasons change with the latitude.

doesn't take five seconds to align it according to real time

i think kalphiter was working on something that would make sun positioning more accurate but obv he's not doin that anymore

true
I mean you could estimate but still

How far away are you from a window...?

having a mod to handle it could also have other potential possibilities

if you could find a simple weather API somewhere (which i'm certain you could) you could make something align with real weather in an area as well, for instance

if nothing else, having a nice button to "set to real time!!" would be neat though (and p simple)

that's kinda one of the least meaningful ways to measure the exact time of day though?? we're talking about making the in-game day cycle mirror real time, including time of day, right?

You can't do that because it's limited to 4 digit numbers.
Max time is 9999 at most, otherwise it reverts back to 300.

I'm wrong. But it was strange as typing in the number manually would revert it back. Oh well. Just mash 9 a few times and it'll max out at 86400.

Really? I remember typing something big before and it would go to 86400
lemme check

it's possible

oh you edited
