Author Topic: Blockland Studio Update  (Read 1472 times)

I know this is almost nothing short of impossible, but this is more directed towards badspot. It would be amazing if Blockland had a separate program dedicated to building. It would use a drag and drop brick interface with fast menu browser and placing. (If possible with the limitations of datablocks,) you could resize bricks with ease. You could quickly build many things. Fill tools, presets, quick custom brick installs, plugins, this would be arguably the best update in the game.

It would all be controlled the way roblox studio is. There are 4 tools, the Selector, the Mover, the Resizer, and the Rotator. Each works by showing up with 3 lines on each axis. Pulling on them can do different things depending on the tools. There would also be a colorset editor and menu with a mouse-hold grab to select multiple bricks at once. When you are done, a save is generated for you and it will be automatically moved to your save folder.

So, I will end it with that. /discuss

that would actually be really cool
problem with resizing the bricks in the studio is that you would have to have the same brick in-game for it to work though

Yea about scaling, you can just make it were that it creates custom bricks when exporting to .bls correct?

Edit: And then there will be a plugin for terrain bricks ._.

you could just determine a way to chop the section into smaller bricks that already exist

and give the user a view that'll show them how it'll chop up, and maybe give them an option to chop it in the editor itself to have more control

That is a good idea but also i was thinking that you can also import obj, blender, dts that will convert
them into bricks. For exporting it will export the build.

importing .obj files would probably be doable if you just shove it into obj2bls while you export

.dts not sure .blend probably? as long as you can process it
for that matter there's documentation on the .dts format so that could hypothetically be possible. that documentation may be for a newer version though

This would be a very useful tool for builders. I definitely support this concept.

while it sounds good, i just don't see it being done.

Is it because of Blockland's limitations, or Badspot's laziness?

EDIT: Didn't mean to intrude on your reply, sorry.

I agree, but think of McEdit. It was 100% fan made. Maybe someone dedicated will come along and do this for us.

Instead of stretching it should calculate the best division of sizes of default bricks

For example if it was 1x24 then it should place 2 1x12

I support this.

/support if it ever gets done
