The BLF needs a style update badly

While doing some absent-minded googling just a few minutes ago, I decided to just check out dargereldren's port of Badspot's 4kidschan style (which I shamelessly have applied at the moment). Upon looking over the page, I noticed that BLF's theme was based off of the YaBB SE theme. Curious, I looked up YaBB SE and saw that it was discontinued...

...in 2004.

Now, this might have been something nobody was concerned about back in the early days of BLF, but we're looking at something that's over 10 years old. Although satisfyingly minimalistic in design, the forums need a facelift badly. There's gloss on every page, it's mostly white (which can't be too good on the eyes), and it just plain flaunts that it's from circa 2005.

I can say that this is almost certainly possible, given that Badspot has coded two games and a few websites (including this one) to boot, but I don't mind if he doesn't want to. This is merely a suggestion of my picky-apparent-graphic-designer mind that I wrote at like 10 PM.

yes, i like the minimalism as implied in op, but lots of white really hurts your eyes

maybe a subtle shade of blue will help things out.

It already is like 50% blue. Ain't that blue enough for you, eboyblue?

I'm happy with the current design. It's soft enough, pleasantly minimalistic, and the white has never hurt my eyes. The theme might be over 10 years old, but I don't see that age should mean we have to throw out what works. Besides, this colour scheme is already used by other big websites with little complaint, such as Facebook and reddit, with significantly more white than blue.

cus first of all it's a lot more than two games lol

and secondly he didn't make this. the forum runs on SMF and if I remember correctly the theme is just a slightly edited default theme from some old version of SMF

I'd like if all posts had the same background color. That's about the only thing I think is really wrong about this theme.
