those red and blue things that pop up when you hit people should pop up when you hit people on this game too

There is an add-on that does this, just without the red splash. I couldn't find it though.

Yes, that's it. I didn't know what it was called.

I've had the idea of basically making these before. The shapename based one always looked really weird. Would just involve a bunch of particle textures, maybe 1-100 and then a couple incremental ones that are like "100+", "200+", "500+", "1000+", "5000+", and I don't think anything beyond that would be needed. Though, I feel like we ought to at least design our own 'splash' texture rather than just ripping one from another game. Anyone here want to give a shot at designing the splash background? Don't worry about the numbers, I'll probably write a quick program to create the numbered files really quickly.

Why not just spawn the splash texture where the shape number is instead? That way it doesn't take up a bunch of datablocks and it can still display any number when they're damaged.

That beats the purpose of it being stylized at all. The point is to not make it collide with normal shapenames, but since all shapenames constantly have the same size and font, you can't really use them for this. You might as well just stick with the current shapename-based one.
