During the panel that the teaser was released at, John Boyega hesitantly nodded yes when asked if he was a Stormtrooper. There are timelines that talk about the fall of the Empire, and how they recruited anybody they could to boost numbers. Maybe this falls along those stories? Stormtrooper gone rogue?

i would assume that the war didn't just complelely end after the Death Star was destroyed, and that it also probably went on a good deal of other planets too. it would make sense that there would be some wreckage of the war to found pretty much everywhere
