I've been thinking about getting this whenever I get cable
because it looks really cool and I love science fiction. but this game might be a little bit too soft scifi for that to matter a big difference
what's good and what's bad about it??
Well, it's a great blend of FPS and RPG. It's got some of the most solid gameplay on the market, especially it's gunplay. Ultra tight gunplay. The end game content is super fun, raids and exotic loot collecting. The bad? Well the main story isn't really much to say anything about, it's kind of vague. The DLC's after Vanilla had their own continuation on the story, but it didn't flush out that much until House of Wolves. Bungie is putting a lot of effort into story telling, though, with the new expansion tomorrow. But the game is rich with lore, even from the beginning. People also complained about the grind to get to max level, however, they got rid of the system that forced people to grind top level gear from raids and end game activities to achieve max level (basically the gear you wore dictated what level you were at, based on the sum of a value on each piece of armor you wore). Your level is now XP based. All gear is now the total average of all your attack and defense values, which determines how much damage you can dish out and take. One thing that still persists, and it can be taken either way, is that matchmaking for some end game content still doesn't exist. You have to A) already know people and form a group with them or B) use online services to find randoms. And honestly everyone uses B and doesn't have much of a problem. The thought here is that you're supposed to make a group of people you can communicate with efficiently, because the raid content can be very tough. I just use r/fireteams to find groups, and it works great. Others use destinylfg.net, but I find that people have had terrible experiences with people there (very toxic), plus the stuffton of squeakers. With r/fireteams, you at least have to make a reddit account to make a posting (but it doesn't stop other people from the outside sending a request/message to you from PSN or XBL).
