Author Topic: Commemorating the life of Thorfin25  (Read 42288 times)

I remember we'd always richard around on GFW, doing some "weird science" involving mounting numerous weird turrets to vehicles, usually aircraft.  The Howitzer Bombardment Biplane and the Avenger Gunboat were the best.

At least he is in a better place where he is the Badspot, and he has his own BLF, where his dreams have come true.

I'm relatively new to the BLF in general, and I was just getting myself acquainted with the place when I overheard of Thorfin's passing. I tried to find out the heck was up, and my search ends here. I never knew the guy at all, and judging by this thread's size and the words being said, it doesn't take much to realize that we lost a valuable member.

I typically run my own server in-game, keeping around my own self-absorbed projects on my own game. I never get attached to anyone too much.

So why am I here, is the question some of you may ask?

I may be an apathetic, son-of-a-cold-hearted-bitch, but loss is the most trying of circumstance, so even I could not pass something up like this. I will say to those who were truly close to the player, I am deeply sorry for the loss.
I will also say to those who have come to pay their respects: Let this be a lesson; Don't end your life, like Thorfin has. Live it like it's your last day on Earth. Sure, we'll meet some starfishs now and then, and may even then have to smile at them while thinking about shooting them in the face with a Deagle, but at the very, very end of the day, you are what you set yourself to be.

I may very well be saying that Thorfin made a mistake to take his life when he had so much to live for, but I'm not. This guy helped the Blockland community just as much as anyone has.
All we have to do is follow suit. Help someone else, no matter what mood you're in, and one day, they will do the same.

I hope that this post was meaningful enough to remember Thorfin's name, and to those who follow in his footsteps in years to come.

May he be endless; eternal.

Damn. Never knew the guy personally, but I definitely recognize the name (which is saying something on the internet). Goes to show how much of an impact he made even to folks who didn't know him. Rest in peace, friend.

Thorfin is the wayward son.

If he actually died then that sucks, if not. then im not surprised. But again he seemed like a cool guy, my condolences.

I may not know who Thorfin25 is, but I shall give him some respect. R.I.P Thorfin25.

The memorial server seems to have started gathering spam rather than legitimate builds.  If nobody has any compelling reasons for keeping the server up, I'll shut it down and post the save file here.

At this point in time it may be for the best that the server is shut down. Xalos, if you can post a folder that contains the save file, the add-ons needed and maybe a .txt file with some details about the save, possibly a URL to the topic, that would be great.

My internet here at home isn't good enough for me to actually host a memorial service, as much as I want to. So to circumvent that I'm going to complete the shrine I've been working on and I'll post the save, alongside a couple of the nicer shrines from Xalos' server.

Thank you for hosting the memorial server, it is much appreciated. I'm glad we were able to come together as a community to mourn the loss of our friend.

This server was really cool from you guys, thanks for hosting it. The way a community supports a fellow blockhead by building tributes is touching.

I didn't think he actually died, he was a good guy. Sad to seem him go, I am happy I played on some of his builds before he died.

I usually dont bump, but I sure hope the forums forgive me for this.

When I first heard about Thorfin killing himself I was skeptical, i take every death claim on the internet with a grain of salt. But then I read the rest. And... I dont know what to say, this is incredibly sad.

I didn't see him much, but when I did. He was awesome. He was a good admin and judging by his behavior, a good person...

Rest in peace dude.

2015 is definitely a tough year. We have had many losses of good people. But everyone, remember to live your life to its fullest potential. Remember that you are part of this world and will very likely stay that way for the rest of your life. There are always tough times, but that is life as it normally is. In life, you must cherish every moment and make a good difference in the world. The world is your real life sandbox, and you must take care of it as you are part of it.
