So, yesterday, your pal Holly finished her last college tour. I've seen about 8 schools that are schools I'd most likely be able to get in to, and a couple of stretch schools. My top 3 non-stretch schools are Bentley University, Sacred Heart University, and Gettysburg College, and my stretch schools are MIT and Yale, and UCONN is just my "safe" choice. Of the schools I saw, I liked Sacred Heart the best, the campus was clean, professors I met were all really nice, and I really liked the overall feel of the school. It's also within 3 hours of my home, so traveling home for breaks and such won't be too bad. I'm currently in the process of writing my common app essay, but based on SAT and GPA alone, I should get into Sacred Heart where I want to go.

My advice for younger forumers is to keep your grades up and go to school, because sophomore year, I barely went to school or did work and it made my gpa drop so far and it took me almost a year of 4.0 to get it back to a 3.2 cumulative for all of hs because of just one bad year and it was a huge pain in the ass, so yeah, go to class and do your work, or else it will come back to bite you in the ass eventually. Also try to have a good relationship with at least one teacher because you need a letter of recommendation and you want them to write really good things about you. Middle school doesn't really matter but use the time to get into good habits. Being organized will really save your ass. Spending 5 minutes to get your stuff in line will save you from spending 15 minutes later looking for stuff.

Also take notes on post it notes in your english books, it makes writing essays 10000 times easier

Discuss school and school related stuff.

I think all the physical activity i'm doing is getting my brain working because in the 2nd quarter and 3rd quarter my grades weren't too good

if you're going to drop out, please do it before 12th grade. a couple of people at my school cut the cord their last year and its such a waste. like you've already completed over half of high school you have ONE semester left its too late for that come on. your diploma is right around the corner

or at least mine is, cus im graduatingggggg 8)

As someone who has an extreme interest in attending MIT, what did you think of the campus?

I thought it was really nice. It's a stretch school for me, so I don't know about my chances of getting in, but it was pretty cool. The MIT-Caltech rivalry was pretty hilarious to hear about, too. The only thing that put me off of MIT was that it was a little bigger than I would've liked (11,000 students)

Honestly, the rivalry is one of the reasons I want to go. They offer the major I'm interested in, though, so that's the primary reason.

I want to study political science as my major, so their program is pretty good for that as well. Honestly it's still a stretch school for me, so I'll probably end up at Sacred Heart. Not complaining tho, Sacred Heart has really nice facilities and good professors. Only thing that sucks is that freshman aren't allowed to have a car on campus, but they offer shuttles to anywhere I'd want to go anyways.

I recently took the ACT for the first time. Got a 27 without studying as a sophomore. The national average is like 21 or 22. I plan on taking it again multiple times, hopefully I can get at least a 30 when I'm done.

I only applied for one school which was the state university that's 15 minutes from where I live. Mostly because they offered me a full tuition scholarship off the bat so why bother. But one thing I noticed is the requirements for a lot of private schools aren't harder than state schools and often the same. But the price is about 6 times as much. So unless there is something that sets that particular school apart I would really suggest looking at state schools. Also for most STEM fields state schools have tons of scholarships available, at least from what I've seen

Yeah, the only thing I don't like about state universities is the size in terms of students, so I've been looking at medium-small schools. Money is a secondary concern really

Will someone give me tips on how to focus and keep out distractions? I've been procrastinating my homework for a few hours and I have lots to do.

something i think a lot of people, if not everyone here can agree on is that middle school is one of the worst things you'll ever have to go through in your loving life

i'm so glad i'm out of that piece of stuff
