Author Topic: Controllers for PC  (Read 3590 times)

Is the Xbox 360 controller still the best? I'd rather ask/look around a bit before getting one since it's from 2011 and surely there would have been a better one by now? The Xbox One controller requires an adapter and doesn't seem to be as widely supported natively by games though, so I probably wouldn't go for that.

i don't think i needed an adapter when i played with my one controller

get whatever feels comfortable for you

As far as I remember it's exclusively micro-USB which desktop computers generally don't have ports for

I've only ever used a 360 controller for a few minutes a year ago so I can't exactly judge by that

i think the 360 controller is microusb in to controller and regular-sized usb out
whoops did loving read this wrong

goddamn i did

i dont understand controllers. like why would you want to aim with a wiggly-stick when you could aim with an ultra-accurate hand-controlled speed-controlled mouse.

Get a console :)
I have one that I'd be bringing but that's not the point
Theres pc games to be played with two people so controllers are necessary.

i just use a ps3 controller with motioninjoy but the 360 controller seems to be the standard for most things

mostly it's just a matter of preference, i would assume. gota wonder how the steam controller will end up doin tho

depends on the type of game. for FPS, mouse+keyboard is typically going to be better, but for say, a racing game or a platformer, a controller would probs offer a lot more control

Not all games are first person shooters?

micro-USB to normal USB
like a cell phone charger cord
it should work fine

Controllers just feel more natural to me. Mice can provide an instant accuracy bonus, yes, but with practice, that same accuracy can be achieved with a controller. Just look at my BF4 stats.

The Xbox One controller has a micro-USB slot on itself. A regular Xbox One charger cable plugs into that, and on the other end is a regular USB. The Xbox One only has a USB slot.

And an Xbox One controller with a micro-USB to USB cable will work automatically when plugged into a computer, which I can attest to.

The Xbox One controller is also very comfortable, I find, with a nice button layout.

The Xbox 360 controller is one of the most comfortable controllers I've used and they're pretty standard anyway. I never really found the Xbox One controller that much better, I actually found it a bit worse, but I only held it so what do I know. I'd just get a wired Xbox 360 controller if I were you.

It depends on the game really. If it's an fps or a game that requires a large amount of input keys then I'd take a keyboard over a controller any day. If it's a puzzle, fighting, racing, or even platformer than of course a controller is going to be the better option.

I dunno, there are downsides to the Xbone controller. The shoulder buttons feel like ass and I personally don't really like the flared shape of the triggers.

yes, but with practice, that same accuracy can be achieved with a controller.

this is completely untrue but ok
