The same could be said of ALL multiplayer competitive games!

>mfw winner is based off popularity instead of wins

Lame

That doesn't work because people will just join whichever one is more popular and then there's no actual competition at all

This had the potential to be awesome but this is disappointing
If cats had a little bit more percent in winning, they would of won.
But they didn't.

Stay salty, my friend.

honestly, it should just be about having fun

but that's just my opinion

but anyways, congrats to team dog for winning!

the only time I can have fun is when I am fighting AI.

The equation for points looks to be (win% * 2 ) + popularity%
At 38/62 popularity split, this makes the win rate needed for cats to win to be 56/44.
The win rate will be very unlikely to stray more than 1 or 2 percentages from 50/50; a 12% difference in win rate is so statistically unlikely to happen that it can be discredited.

lol
it's just like sports
everyone gets really competitive
don't worry, you'll forget the loss once the next splatfest comes, and then the teams will mix and it'll get competitive again

Too bad there is no competition here

In sports, you have one team versus another one team. Whichever team is better wins.
But here, you have thousands of teams. For every good team, there's a bad one. For every win, there's a loss. The wins/loss will balance out to 50/50 (That's a link, you should click it if you missed it last time)
With wins being equal, and thus points from wins being equal, the only source of points left for a difference is popularity.
Whichever team is more popular wins.
That's it.

I'm not upset at all about losing. I play all sorts of competetive games, losing is part of the game. You move on.
I'm disappointed because it's a bad setup for a system that had potential. Instead of winning by...winning, people can just choose the most popular team ("Are there more dog owners or cat owners in NA?" -> Choose Dog -> Win)
It's not a system I want to win either. I don't want to win by being more popular, I want to win by being the better player

i'm not upset about losing because rollscumming exists but i do think it's really bullstuff how the system is set up; i'd feel the same way if dogs had lost because of bullstuff

Which is why player communication during a match isn't a thing! :D

There is still Miiverse.

Then again, I haven't played the game so I don't know any form of communication that can take place.  I am probably just being a paranoid forget.
