Author Topic: how do i buffer videos faster on firefox?  (Read 602 times)

i remember i was on youtube a few days ago on firefox, and for some reason, it started to buffer very fast. like it buffered like 3 or 4 minutes. usually it only buffers < 1 minute. now it stopped doing that. is there something i can change in the settings to make videos buffer faster?

also, i will not download chrome, sorry.

May I ask why you won't download chrome?

it's my preference, and i think you should respect that.

that's weird

my buffering speed is pretty consistent.

it was probably just a network thing

Yeah, I think video buffering has to do with your internet connection. If you have a bad connection it'll take longer.

I'm just asking why, calm your tits please. I use chrome and firefox and I usually don't have a problem with buffering videos and when I do, it's usually my network rather than the browser.

a. he doesn't need to calm down
3. it's probably the same reason people prefer certain operating systems: familiarity, appeal to immediate needs, etc.

it's not my internet connection, because i used to use chrome, and it would buffer fast, like 3 or 4 minutes ahead, like firefox would.

got any add-ons or plugins?

i don't know if your cookies/cache would affect it in any way, but...

disable DASH playback

Quote
DASH Playback

DASH Playback is a method on how a video should be buffered. If DASH Playback is enabled it will buffer the video in blocks. That means that every time you seek in the video it will have to rebuffer that block and it will not buffer the next block if you're not at the very end of the current block. If DASH Playback is turned off YouTube will load normally where you can pause the video and it will buffer to the end of the video and you can jump around in the video as much as you like.

YouTube's default option has DASH enabled, because it's buffering faster for people with a good internet connection. YouTube Center also have DASH Playback enabled by default.

at least that's what i'm assuming you're talking about
