Why is there such a huge focus on multiplayer games in the past few years?
because socialising is fun

idk maybe because playing with other human beings is fun
That's why splitscreen multiplayer with people in the same room as you is fun. People you can actually physically see, talk to and interact with.

How the forget can you have fun with people over the internet, especially if they don't have mics or cameras?

Is Blockland fun for you?

Is Blockland fun for you?
Not really.

Giant shock, but I prefer the forums to the game.

Space Station 13 would like to have a word with you.

Not really.

Well it seems this is a problem with you rather everyone else.

I didn't realise liking the forum was a medical condition?

I mean't not having fun with the game Blockland, where the only way to communicate with people is through text. Sorry for any confusion.

who even said anything remotely similar to that

So this is basically some sort of weird second live meets gmod stuff. I wouldn't pay for that at all.

Because they aren't autistic and don't have trouble noticing the nearly nonexistent blur between physical and media communication. You are still communicating with humans, even without the microphones and cameras. You know that something sapient is behind that soldier dude, which is why agaro.io is fun.

You get to meet, play and socialize with people that you wouldn't have been able to meet with. This is why this is such a popular thing in the past few years. We, as a social species, will do anything short of dying in order to communicating with one another.

It isn't because people realized that it is expensive and so-very-hard to get good story writers (your fat game developer e-peen is really showing in this one, Job), it is just because people like to experience something different than split-screening and doing missions with non-player characters.

This guy put what I was thinking into words so well

Why is there such a huge focus on multiplayer games in the past few years? It's almost like people realised you need decent storywriters (who aren't cheap) to make a good single-player experience, so they all went to multiplayer where the more glitches, the better.
