My opinion:
Technology should be dealt with similar to the likes of EU4 so it isn't suPER loving TediosUSS AS forget.
Administrative, Diplomatic, and Military points can be used to go to the next tech/whatever level, to avert disasters, to gain/lose medals or ribbons/jairo's mega gay bonus system, to gain stuff, to gain stability, etc.

Every day (OORP), great powers get 20 "power points", secondary powers 10, and the other friends 5-9 varying on their WORTH.

the eu4 system is a lot more tedious than just picking techs and waiting a day, the only thing tedious is remembering to change it and if you forget, how many techs you need

honestly colouring in a tech tree was much easier to keep track of and pick techs on

How is saving up points, using them to your advantage (in situations), tedious?
You basically get x points and updrade your tech in three tiers of technology.
It isn't as tedious as getting what you want and coloring it in then uploading it to imgur/whatever.

because it means Jairo/Harm has to add points to you every so often and you keeping track of that
it's a terrible system compared to what we have, also that's maybe just me then because using imgur/puush is easy for me
